"Every new beginning is some other beginning's end"
Words I've been thinking about recently, from the song "Closing Time" by Semisonic. I've wanted to incorporate them into a tattoo for a while, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to make that happen.
The view from Sunset Hill Park lends itself to untraditional photo widths, with the line of Olympics marching across the frame. I was inspired to do just that with these images.

Compared to the last few years, smoke season has been relatively light in Seattle for 2024. As usual the smoke makes for dramatic sunsets, and I got out to capture some of that on Saturday.

Today, being the solstice, marks the first day of summer for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere. We're having a very nice day here in the Seattle area, where the joke is this month should usually be called June-uary. I took the opportunity to go sit in the shade under a tree, where I had a view of the Sound and the mountains, to read a book and just soak up the day.
I hope this longest day finds you well. Welcome Summer!

Can't help but feel I should go back someday just to see this view; it's so reminiscent of the atmospheric perspective and the style used by old-timey Japanese artists...only it's real, and on the other side of the Pacific! My photographic piece, "Aerial Perspective".
