Every Doorway is an Invitation
Miniature teal doorway with a scrollwork window and potted plant in oil pastelMiniature Oil Pastel Paintings
Doorways have always symbolized something meaningful to me.
Oil pastel weathered wooden doorway surrounded by cascading flowers.Every doorway is an invitation—a threshold between what has been and what is possible. Some doors close; others open, and each offers us an opportunity to begin.
This mirrors the thresholds in our lives—endings, beginnings, transitions, uncertainty—the quiet, trembling moments when the familiar loosens its grip and the future has not yet taken shape.
These are the doorways where we hesitate and hover, our hearts caught between what we are asked to release and what we have not yet learned to welcome. Spaces where grief and hope mingle, and we discover, often clumsily, how to keep stepping forward into the unknown.
Miniature oil pastel painting of an old blue doorway surrounded by weathered stoneBut a doorway is an invitation, not a command. It doesn’t demand that we walk through. It simply offers the possibility.
And within possibility, there is magic.
Red doorway oil pastel inspired by a location in MaltaThe hope and wonder of the unexpected. The promise that something beautiful might exist just beyond what we can see.
Perhaps that is what draws me to doorways—the mystery of what lies beyond them, and the quiet reminder that we are never quite as finished as we think we are.
This is what I am trying to capture in these miniature oil pastels: possibility.
Teal-green wooden doorway with warm glowing light and pink flowers in oil pastel. These tiny doorways are portals to hope—little talismans, perhaps, or windows into possibility. Small reminders that even when we cannot see what lies beyond, there is always the possibility that something unexpected, something beautiful, is waiting on the other side.
Each one is an invitation.
A Meditation for the Threshold
This meditation was created as a premium meditation on Insight Timer. I’m sharing it here because of its exploration of intuition, universal consciousness, and the unknown, which feels so connected to what these little doorways represent: possibility, invitation, and the mystery of what lies beyond.

A focus on color begins.
This small collection started with a simple idea: taking the colors of the rainbow and letting them move freely across the page.
Created with oil pastels, these swirling marks carry all the texture and energy of the medium:
- the drag of pigment
- the visible strokes
- the layers that refuse to disappear completely.Color has a way of creating its own atmosphere.

# ✨ Meet The Artist : Emerald Glowo ✨
:meowaww: Hallo, this is my #introduction ! I'm Emerald and I love to draw Belial bara tiddies with my coloured pencils and oil pastels!! I (re)started my art journey during the 2020 pandemic lockdown after a decade long hiatus. :cute:
🍀I show all of my process for each art project from start to finish on my YouTube channel and via Twitch streaming. I streamed myself drawing this self-portrait on Twitch in November 2022 (I think). :meowthinking:
Youtube : https://www.youtube.com/@emeraldglowodraws
Twitch : https://www.twitch.tv/emerald_glowo
🪻My main muse is #Belial from #GranblueFantasy and I honestly just want to draw his nudes. Artistically. :ChikaBrows:
✨ :meowawauu:✨ I come to Mastodon from Twitter to get away from Elon and ads. Also, this is my 2nd account of Mastodon. My first and main account is in Aethy. Fediverse shenanigans.
🪻 I strive to git gud in drawing and rendering character illustrations. :meowflower: I stream reading Granblue Fantasy stories on Twitch every week too! The characters in the game are speaking in Japanese so am reading the English translations out loud. Trying my best to follow the chronological order of its many branching stories. Is a mostly blind playthrough. :meow_uwucry:
