  6. Ohio’s nursing homes are dumping patients at homeless shelters, some on sidewalks out in front, according to federal inspection reports, resident advocates, and the industry itself.

One man, who had been in a nursing home for 22-years was told he was going to assisted living, given no discharge info, medication management, etc and dumped at a city homeless shelter. His facility is owned by Ciena Healthcare, which operates 83 other long-term care facilities in multiple states. medicare.gov/care-compare/insp

A 74-year old woman was dumped outside a homeless shelter with a bag of medicine, using a walker, broken tibia, and dementia who didn't know where she was or how she got there. No one knows what ultimately happened to her. medicare.gov/care-compare/insp

Ohio's ombudsman’s office, the legal advocate for long term care patients, gets copies of every involuntary discharge from a nursing home in Ohio. This office is a joke and has been for a long time.

  7. BREAKING: Republicans say that swastika flags that were displayed in several U.S. Congressional offices were an 'optical illusion' that no one spotted until now.

  9. Got our first electric bill since the 13-state increase that raised capacity prices by 800%

Some ppl are going to be in for a sticker shock.

Our 1st electric bill increased around $100 compared to last year. We used less energy, too. The reason, the rate increases because the wholesale rate went up during the auction due to data center demand and their ability to increase the auction price for energy.

They started warning us in April.

Electricity prices are set through an auction held by PJM Interconnection, which manages the regional power grid. The latest auction for June 2025 through May 2026 resulted in an 800% increase in capacity prices. Estimated increase is $40 per 1000 1,000 kilowatt-hours for residential use #OHPol

PJM Interconnection operates in parts of 13 states and the District of Columbia. These include Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, Michigan, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia, and West Virginia

  10. Republican Ohio Supreme Court Justice Pat Fischer to challenge colleague Jennifer Brunner, state’s lone remaining statewide Democrat

Ohio Supreme Court Justice Pat Fischer’s term isn’t set to expire until 2028. Running sooner will allow him to avoid a mandatory retirement. Ohio’s constitution sets mandatory retirement age for judges. Candidates who will be older than 70 when their term begins aren’t eligible to run.

At judges’ request, state lawmakers placed a measure on the ballot in 2011 that would raise the age limit to 75. Voters defeated it 62%-38%.

Republicans hold 6 of the 7 Supreme Court seats.

Leave it the GOP to figure out a way to cheat and stick it to a Democrat at the same time

  11. Bill would ban certain people from buying land in Ohio

House Bill 1 would ban anyone who is not a United States citizen, and from certain countries, from buying land within 25 miles of “protected property. Protect property is broad and includes farmland, railroads and other common properties.

Right now, China, Russia, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela and Syria are on the list

If it becomes law, Ohio’s secretary of state would have to update the list every six months. #USpol #Ohio #OHPol

  12. Ohio public schools could be forced by the Ohio GOP to close some buildings, then forced to sell them cheaply, below market, to charter and private schools

Making matters worse, the Ohio GOP wants to prevent schools, or any gov agency, from communicating or doing voter education, about levies, which is how many schools get funding needed to operate in Ohio, 30 days before an election in any form or fashion.

  14. Ohio bill would incentivize gym goers, personal training programs by establishing an Ohio personal income tax deduction for gym and other personal training costs that total $1,500 or less per year.

Although this is great, it leaves out the working poor, esp families that pay little tax due to their low wages and family size.

There is also a fear that gyms would increase their fees as a result of the tax credit.

  16. Ohio GOP Chair brags of 'confusing Ohioans' during election

“A lot of people were saying, ‘We’re confused! We’re confused by Issue 1.’ Did you all hear that? Confusion means we don’t know, so we did our job,” Triantafilou said. “Confusing Ohioans was not such a bad strategy.”

He said that for Inauguration Day, the party will be leading a group of 1,200 Ohioans to Washington, D.C.

  17. Ohio adds $4 million to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce budget to defend against private school voucher lawsuit.

Last year, Ohio spent a billion dollars of taxpayers money to pay for 130,000 to attend private schools, mostly religious, church owned schools.

The state is facing a challenge to the constitutionality of vouchers, which the state uses to pay for private school tuition. The lawsuit was filed in 2022. #Ohio #EdChoice #USPol #OHPol

  18. I know a few Ohioans and seen this topic come up. The Republican legislature is, intentionally, making this confusing, making it sound like voting No will protect citizens from gerrymandering, when voting Yes is what will actually protect citizens by having citizens control redistricting.

So, Ohio, vote YES on Issue 1.
