Just got back from #OhioTESOLConference. Presented on re-leveling and enhancing readings for #EnglishLearners. Went well.
It was great to see and talk to so many colleagues.
The presentations I saw were great, and there were some others that i wanted to see but didn't have time, unfortunately.

I think my #OhioTesolConference presentation went well today. About 60 or 70 attendees.
Some had trouble with the spreadsheet and script, but they can now at least create multilingual #Google Forms by hand. I also demo'ed 3 languages together in questions and using sections & jump logic for several languages in one Form.
No time to talk about collating data spread b/t several columns or files.
Tomorrow: re-leveling and enhancing readings.

#OhioTesolConference day 2 was another great day of #k12 #ESOL #education and #AdultESOL professional development.
Great to see colleagues I've not seen since the conference last year. Great to see how people are using #GenAI and #LLMs like #ChatGPT to support #EnglishLearners and other #EMEB / #ESL students.
Also, the venue provided #coffee all day! Much appreciated.

Is there any research showing that #GenAI / #LLM prompts are measurably better when you explicitly assign a role to the LLM?
For example, many presenters at #OhioTesolConference (any many others online) advise that we should start with something link "you are an #ESL teacher with 20 years of experience."
I don't do that any more and have not noticed any issues with output quality. However, I do give copious details and ask for specific outputs.

Day 2 of #OhioTesolConference is off to a great start. Currently in session about #AI / #ChatGPT and materials for the #FourLanguageDomains.

First day of the #OhioTesolConference is done. Some great, helpful, informative sessions today. And, of course, it is great to see many fellow #ESOL and content teachers, and admins.
