Like maintaining this fable of beating the mainstream, of being special, evil, but actually realising, perhaps with time, tired with age, that it’s just a delusion, and really your small self gets is being trampled by a an army of pigs marching by. Never quite achieving what could have been. I find that more evocative than a simple criticism of others.
