Okay, spammed* as many audio related forums and mailing lists as I could think of where I actually use their stuff or where there might be general interest about my musical stems file format for DJing and tracks meant for re-mixing. It's such a niche thing that I have received very little feedback so far, but if you can think of anyplace that might be open to providing feedback (ie. DJ applications like Mixxx or DAWs like Ardour who might want to implement the format in the future), let me know so I can ask if they're willing!

#TIL from building a web audio player (for the mixes):

#Safari's #opus support is still quirky. With a #webm container, playback works but AnalyserNodes won't receive anything to compute frequency data with. With #ogg, `getByteFrequencyData()` works, but the audio element calculates the wrong duration, prob. b/c it always assumes CBR. Also if you build the audio pipeline before the first user interaction in Safari, nothing will get routed to the speakers

But still, the #WebAudioAPI is awesome!

So my audioengine HD5s arrived yesterday. Pretty exciting. So of course I'm listening to my music all day today while I work.

GrapheneOS handles the audio specifics just fine. No fancy protocols, just pair and play.

Sound quality is excellent, and...

... I can't talk to them. ;-)

I have this now ancient Philips DVD burner from 15+ years ago that I still use for ripping cds. So reliable.

A shout out to the #Discovery app in #KDEPlasma which does such a great job, and pulls in music tags from #MusicBrainz.

I like #FinAmp too, although I now mostly keep my music collection locally on my phone as #ogg files, and use #Phocid.

Well, all I can say is that I never have a streaming issue when traveling. 🤣

What is better? #vinyl or #audio files(e.g. #ogg #opus #flac #wav #aiff #mp3 #AAC etc.)

This will not impact any #acxi user who has set OUTPUT_TYPE already in configs, or who starts acxi with --outtput [type]. So it's just a corner case check to avoid horrible mess for any user who was using the old default of #ogg. But I've been thinking of switching to modern default for a while, but wanted to give it some time.

And, since this will be a major version release, #acxi is moving from the old default output type #ogg, which is largely in maintenance mode, to #opus. Added in a few features to avoid any users who had never explicitly set OUTPUT_TYPE in configs and aren't using --output option to exit if no explicit output type set for sync actions. it could be quite nasty if you updated and had used old default ogg, then ran with new opus without realizing. This was cleanest way to handle that test.

I know it is a longshot, but I am trying to find a #FiiO #M11 Plus LTD #DAP with the #AKM 4497 EQ and the Steel Casing #ForSale or #Trade.

I want to upgrade from my current #HiBy R3, and I have been doing a bunch of research, and that is the one that I would love to go with.

A few things acxi is NOT:
* a cd ripping tool. Check out #abcde, it does a good job for cli ripping tool.
* a media player
* a strong supporter of #nonfree #audio #codecs like #AAC or #MP3. It offers adequate, basic support, and that is it.

The focus is always going to be on mainly #xiph.org #vorbis things like #flac, #opus, #ogg (to a lesser extent, since vorbis has moved all dev efforts to opus).

acxi will support the others enough to let you translate them to free codecs.
