The #JukeboxFridayNight theme is #MixedUp in honour of mixed up genres in music, inspired by Shane MacGowan's use of them.
My submission is Temple of Love, the 1992 version with Ofra Haza adding her incredible voice to the already fabulous Sisters of Mercy track.

#OfraHaza: Im Nin' Alu - International Remixed Version Official Video

CW: 1988 - Im nin'alu from "Shaday" by Ofra Haza
A setting of a seventeenth-century poem by Rabbi Shalom Shabazi turned into a song John Peel championed and a German number one hit.
Ofra Haza's combination of traditional Yemeni instruments and Western disco was augmented by some very effective scratching, Haza's music was sampled on Eric B & Rakim's "Paid in full".
Haza died in 2000 of an AIDS-related illness.

Listening to "Paid in full" by Eric B and Rakim yesterday, I was reminded how the sample of אם ננעלו (Im nin'alu) by Ofra Haza brought her music to a new market and also reminded me how much I liked the song... https://youtu.be/ZRnzTTYk7_Q
