Long-pressing the Stop/Refresh button gives options;
- Refresh,
- Stop, and importantly,
- #WorkOffline

The #OfflineMode already exists, it can be triggered from the (hidden) main menu with Alt+F and K. It helps to save #batteryLife, preventing background fetches, including #JavaScript fetches you might not like.

If you use a #Firefox derivative, you can't forget it's on. A reminder appears, asking whether you want to exit it and try again.

We actually think #TorBrowser should have a small icon that flicks when a page does a fetch.

You'd left-click to trigger #WorkOffline.

The #tabs change in #Firefox though clumsily wide, especially on a #laptop can be mitigated with this fancy footwork, for now at least.

We think #CompactMode ought be the default – not deprecated.

It's all a bit of a #redHerring, though.

We examined whether #WorkOffline mode is added to about:config — it hasn't. Thus it seems #Mozilla have completely decimated the #OfflineMode asfaras we can see.

'Work Offline' mode saves #batteryDrain, and limits #surveillance…

In #Firefox, there's a viable use case for remaining in "#WorkOffline" mode, across multiple sessions.

Why does #Mozilla choose to switch off 'Work Offline' automatically when the browser is being closed? Is it to send "data" to #Amazon, #Google and #Cloudflare?

To prevent #TorBrowser accessing the internet while JavaScript is enabled, you can trigger an "#OfflineMode" for the entire browser. In the menu select 'More' > 'Work Offline'.

Its not a great option and has its own #fingerprinting issue if you have a lot of #javascript tabs open. But it's better than nothing we suppose.
