Two years ago, to the hour, I took my first pill of Estrogen, starting #HRT. Back than as #DIYHRT, today with #OfficialHRT.
It’s been a wild ride, and a mostly enjoyable one at that.
I’m definitely much happier, emotionally more balanced, more social, just in every way (except for physical strength and being cold all the time) a better version of myself. I love it! 😊

Back from my GP, for another triptorelin injection.
Truly the biggest perk of transitioning in the Netherlands: It’s one injection, every 12 weeks, no real side-effects[1], and because it’s so expensive you basically don’t get it elsewhere.
That said, since it’s a peptite, it requires somewhat unusual preperation and the person who did it today is a doctor, who clearly never dealt with it and skipped reading the instructions…
Not ideal, but in the end, it seems to have made it into my buttock and with surprisingly little pain at that, given the mess that she made when mixing…
[1]: okay the side-effects are: It’s an injection, so things can go (mechanically) wrong with that and low Testosteron also can do things that are undesirable. Aka: No real side effects.

So it’s almost been 12 weeks since I got my last triptorelin shot (next one is tomorrow and the day after that will be the 12 week point) and I was having severe issues with temperature while sleeping last night and just don’t feel good at all.
Either I had a fever from the cold that I clearly have, or these are hot flashes caused by T no longer being properly suppressed. Most likely it’s the former, but I now took 12.5mg cypro just in case. Bridging gaps is why I have it after all.

Just received my first #triptorelin injection, meaning that I'm now fully on #OfficialHRT. A few more days of cypro to cover the initial flare up, and , I'll hopefully be done with #OpenHRT.
I never regretted it and I will keep looking back fondly at it, but I can't deny that getting it officially is still very nice. 😊

I finally received my #OfficialHRT prescription. It actually lies on my table now! 😊
Including the 11.25mg triptorelin-injection that is one of the few perks that you get in the Netherlands, because we don’t use Cypro here. I’m a bit flabergasted though, that this GNRH-agonist, whose only officially listed use is the treatment prostate-cancer, completely fails to mention the initial flare-up upon first time use in it’s leaflet. It’s awful for #trans people, but very dangerous for cancer-patients…
Well, personally I’ll just keep taking my cypro for a couple of days after I have my practitioner’s appointment on Thursday to actually administer it, but still…
Anyways, I’m actually quite happy to have finally and actually reached this stage!

So, I finally got an official prescription for #HRT and my pharmacy said they will have it tomorrow at 14:00.
Now the issue is that the blood-test they took last Thursday showed admittedly VERY high values of E (3324 pmol/L), though I didn’t know I would get a blood test that day and so took it shortly before (aka: this is pretty much the peak value) on the arm from which the blood was drawn (I did wash it of a bit, but this is known to cause inflated values) and so they initially suggested 2 pumps (1.5mg) with a compromise offer of 4 pumps (3mg) which is still below my compromise offer of 6 pumps (4.5mg) which is far down from my current intake of ≈12mg.
She will discuss it with the Endo again today or tomorrow since I did point out that the value is high due to me using a very high dose and will let me know if they adjust it.
Still it looks like it really is finally officially starting, a mere 8.5 months after I started #OpenHRT. 🙂
