🌟Behold, a thrilling "revelation" from 14 years at Google: it's not about writing code—it's about surviving the labyrinth of office politics and coffee chats! ☕️ Who knew that engineers need more social skills than technical prowess? 🙄 #ShockingNotShocking

In today’s installment of "British Humor 101," a tribunal has ruled that calling your boss a "dickhead" is just another day at the office 🎉. Apparently, #professionalism now includes playground insults, and your HR department is just a suggestion box for your best banter 🤪.

Forum: #Bullying reflects deeper issues in #families & #society
"in 1993, #Denmark made #empathy a required #school #subject. It has helped children aged six to 16 develop #compassion & #social #awareness.. “Why should we expect perfectly harmonious relations among #children, when #adults themselves struggle with #conflict & #officepolitics in the workplace?” Indeed, children often mirror the unresolved conflicts & #emotional pain of adults around them"🧐🇸🇬

This fall, the intense, frustrating, just plain bad days are outnumbering the good ones and I don’t like it.
-
Goodness me, this brings back all sorts of unpleasant memories of office politics bullshit before I started working from home 25 years ago.
-
Still no milk in the office apart from the carton I have stashed at the back of my drawer. I wouldn't mind another brew, but that means passing two desperate people who won't buy their own but will want mine. #OfficePolitics 🤣 🥛🐄

Have you ever been set up for failure at your job? What was the situation? How did you handle it?

Pro-Tip: If your office is having a "White Elephant' Gift Exchange at the office Holiday Party, and the boss opens or takes a gift he likes, don't "steal" it, even if it is allowed in the rules of the game. He will remember. #officepolitics

'Hey, how come you weren't at the very important meeting?' is the adult version of 'That party was amazing. You totally should’ve been there.’
The answer to both is and always has been: because no one invited me or even told me it was happening.

I've finally been able to nag the office to pay the $15 to replace the flipper rubbers on the office pinball machine! A win at last!

CW: Horror story
Mr Short was absolutely #livid. Productivity was one thing, but to be shown up in such a way by junior staff! So an excel function could do in thirty seconds what took him six hours, so what? There was only one option — kill everyone who had witnessed this witchcraft.

And ... one more staff member in that department out on stress leave. 😬 Sure am glad that I never applied for that job.

As a #productmanager I sometimes get feelings of "the grass is greener" and begin to envy my #engineering counterparts, who I imagine have it simpler, having fewer meetings, less #officepolitics, less #stakeholder bullshit, and more "heads down work." Moreover, they get the satisfaction of actually #building things and objective feedback.
But then I remember I am good at my job and #dev is really hard.
I'm curious: do #softwareengineer feel the same thing, in reverse?
