Here's what I've been up to. Our generator shed was a real rat infested mess. Could barely walk around in it.
I cleaned it out, added some shelves. Labeled everything twice (So I can see what's missing at a glance, and so community members know where to put things away)
This shed used to house the generators to charge batteries on our old solar system when it couldn't keep up. That system is now our backup solar system. For some reason, the outlets and lights were wired to only be powered when a generator was running. So I had to take all that mess of wiring out and rewire it to run off the backup system's inverter.
I'm still working on adding wire mesh to try and keep the critters out.
alttxt additions: The filing cabinets on the left hold all our PVC and hose plumping fixtures and parts. And various manuals. The top of the wood shelf is a workspace. The next level down is a charging station for power tool batteries. Below it is our electric chainsaw and sump pump. beyond it is our electric brush cutter, the old well pump, and the electric fire retardant sprayer.
To the right of the door is our electric auger, a siphon pump, the 5kW Predator generator, the 9kW Winco generator, & a new in box 5kW Champion generator. (These are all spares. Our main generators are a 13kW DuraMax and a 9kW Champion and are deployed behind our main solar system - You can never have enough spare generators for #OffGridLiving
The top shelf has gloves & ear plugs, portable battery jumpstarter, tank mount propane heater, 1.5"x24" auger bit, rolls of wire mesh, big ropes, and new in box well pump and control boxes.
The next shelf down is extra flame retardant, container of car fluids, crate of propane regulators & adapters, crate of full green propane canisters, crate of empty green propane canisters & kit to refill them.
Next shelf is wireless trailer lights & spare generator battery, crate of air compressor hoses, crate of stuff to fix and inflate tires, a good air compressor, and an iffy one.
Under the shelfs are a big tow chain, the retardant sprayer, a large rolling crate that I intend to populate with nails, screws, washers, staples, nail gun, etc..., a 2kW Craftsman generator, and a 2kW Honda Generator. There's also a fire extinguisher handy as is the case for most buildings.

now that I don't need my aluminet for over my tent at ceremony, I can use it for it's main purpose - shading the front of my trailer.
it's guyed over the trailer with ropes and then tensioned with bamboo risers in the front. 7' bamboo on the corners and 8' bamboo in the center.

I'm under attack by this pine tree. Keeps dropping premature pine cones on the trailer that sound like artillery rounds. The seeds won't be ready until fall. Hope this doesn't mean the tree is unhealthy in any way.

I'm gonna have to get medieval on these ground squirrels. They're not even afraid of me any more. I catch them chewing on something and go out to scare them away and they only move a couple feet. they barely move even if I throw rocks and stuff at them.

So I finally finished leveling the patio area in front of the trailer. The rock retaining wall now goes a lot further.
The uphill side of the rocks is a swale. Currently populated with Chaya cuttings. But as the swale is finished, those will be moved further away, and the close plantings will be buckwheat and monkey flower mostly. Maybe a white sage plant too.
The patio area is prepped for sheet mulching. cardboard is finished, but I'll need to get a carload of mulch from Griffith Park when I'm down in the city next. (I'm a bit of a mulch snob when it comes to my space. Griffith Park has the best free mulch)

Finally getting sun today. My batteries are going to hit 100% in an hour or so. I can put away the catalytic propane heater - probably until next winter.
Can probably take the covers off the trailer roof vent and skylights too. Rain becomes rather unlikely in June, and if we do get some it's a sprinkle unless we get some monsoon activity this year.
But as I understand it we're looking at a strong El Nino - so we may get tropical cyclone activity in the Pacific, making some summer thunderstorms possible but I can always keep buckets/covers handy. Should have plenty of warning unless it happens when I'm at dance for 3 weeks.

Getting the landscape ordered in front of the trailer. The flags mark a level contour where I want a swale to slow and sink water coming down from the hillside. Below the future swale everything is leveled just a few inches below the deck level. After sheet mulching with cardboard and mulch the grade will be level with the deck. Rocks from along the 33 will create the retaining wall for the swale.
