Gonna have a really good warmup/run-up to the #Christmas break. My in-laws are coming in to town this weekend and staying through the 26th.

I love them to death but my FIL always comes in for a full-on frontal hug and it still makes me extremely uncomfortable. They just don’t quite get it in spite of the multiple attempts at explanation

Hell, I’ve known my parents my entire life and I can’t recall a single instance where they gave me a hug like my FIL does. It’s always a side hug with them. Guess I was never “trained” to accept them as a child so they feel strange now. 🤷🏼

Open your aperture and try learning from them and what they choose to share. Especially those who have lives/experience/perspectives that are different than yours. It can be uncomfortable at times but you might learn something.

I like being here. There’s still a sense of lingering doom and I still inwardly cringe when interacting with certain people but, despite the negative tone to that, it’s still an immeasurable improvement over my previous environment. For instance, I have yet to fantasize slow lingering deaths for anyone here. The stress and toxicity in my previous gig was such that that was an almost daily occurrence.
