As this #Episcopalian heads into #HolyWeek, I am remembering William Stringfellow (gay lawyer, theologian, & activist) who told folks that when Jesus said, "Take up your cross & follow Me," the ☦ is NOT your annoying neighbor or needy family.
Your Cross is the inevitable punishment meted out by imperial powers when a person speaks Truth & bases decisions on Integrity & Compassion instead of selfishness & self-preservation
