  1. The Virulent Infection of BlueSky by Extremely Online, Brain-Rotten Zombies from X Continues

So, it appears a new migration from Twitter to Bluesky is underway. It appears to be some of the most virulent former 4chan users possible. Yep, I got off Bluesky just in time, lol. I’ve been keeping tabs on a particularly virulent and toxic subgraph on Twitter for years. It pretty much stayed off Bluesky because they couldn’t act like abusive dumpster fires there. Welp, looks like they’re becoming more active on Bluesky. It’s not looking good over there.

That they are on the move says something. It’s sort of like how the US is suddenly a place that is hospitable to measles. It was all but eradicated here.

My husband likes to say that you can tell where not to be by where I am looking from somewhere else. I like fires. So if I am observing your platform or community from a distance, you probably don’t want to be there.

    Edit:

I had originally posted the above on a now-defunct federated blog. It got blasted to Mastodon. Someone replied and asked what I think is causing this. I debated actually answering, then decided that I’ve had enough of the dumpster fire that is social media. I decided not to wade through social media tech discourse into what will mostly likely be an Internet argument with a complete stranger. I am a techie dragon, and I engage with things to learn how they work so I can tinker with them. I only engaged with tech discourse to get my hands on how the tech works. There’s nothing in it for me to be part of larger conversations. Arguing with random strangers on social media is not an epistemically useful format. I do think I should answer, though. Just on my blog.

I treat social media like I do an addictive substance. I do not believe in abstinence, but I do believe in harm-reduction paradigms, so when I see everyone overdosing on social media, I pull back and shut down a lot of accounts. The Fediverse instance where the first part of this blog post was posted has been taken down, moved to this blog, and this section appended to it.

I often use the word weeb pejoratively. Here, I am using it categorically. There really isn’t an “official” name outside of otaku or weeb culture. I am at the fringes and intersections of it as a furry. My husband is a millennial weeb. With that being said—

The migration is in large part because Bluesky is capturing the otaku/weeb niche of X. X hosted networks that were ecosystems of “anime fans.” These included anime and manga artists, doujin and hentai artists, VTuber fans, NSFW illustrators, fandom shitposters, niche fetish communities, and other chronically and extremely online content creators and influencers. That culture relied heavily on timelines, informal networks, and discovery through reposts, replies, and algorithmic amplification.

Elon Musk pretty much destabilized X’s ecosystems and social networks from multiple directions at once. Algorithm changes made reach inconsistent. Moderation created anxiety and uncertainty about what would get suppressed or unintentionally “viral”. Bots, engagement farming, and blue-check reply spam actively poisoned fandom conversations.

Bluesky is the memetic and cultural progeny of early imageboard cultures. I conducted a phylogenetic analysis of the memetics, which you can check out here:

Bluesky is a competitor of X for otaku and fandom communities. Bluesky has a lot of the aspects of old Twitter dynamics around which fandom culture evolved. Recently, Bluesky introduced something big in those communities: going live. Since X is no longer habitable for weebs, they are moving to Bluesky.

For example, the AT protocol already has PinkSea:

    https://pinksea.art

And, of course, there is WAFRN:

    https://app.wafrn.net

I cope and deal with issues via personal, private sublimation and not so much exhibitionism of my art or consumption of art. So, while I do make comic books and do a shit ton of weeby art, it’s for the purpose of sublimation, so I’m not too interested in being a part of a community. That’s a large reason I am not active in those spaces. I’m quite cynical, in general, so I am suspicious of any community — and I mean any community, at all. Honestly, I am mildly contemptuous of mass participation or any sense of belonging. So, my art stays private, because it is created for me – and just me.

  5. Can We Stop With The Dadaist Memes, Please?

Spamming Dadaist cut-up techniques into memes doesn’t make you look edgy at 50. It just makes you look like someone who never outgrew 4chan. I’m browsing through a Bluesky network of chaotes going through a 50-year-old crisis, and it’s pretty much nothing but cut-up Dadaist-style memes, shitposts, and chan-style board posts—in the year of our lord 2026.

I kid you not, I just read a long thread about someone lamenting the death of bulletin boards except for 4chan. This is why. 4chan culture is able to survive because it keeps getting spread memetically. You can’t, on one hand, curse 4chan culture and then, on the other, participate in it.

  7. Who Gets to Speak On Discord, Who Gets Banned, and Why That’s Always Political in Spaces with No Politics Rules

So, a thing I find very interesting about the fragility of the esteem among chronic Discord users is that it’s common for admins and moderators to ban or make fun of people who leave. Essentially, they’re responding to being rejected or not chosen, so they think it’s reasonable to retaliate

A Discord server I am lurking in has a “no politics” rule and is a religious, esoteric, and philosophical server. What I find very funny about this is that politics is:

“Politics is who gets what, when, and how.”

    — Harold D. Lasswell, Politics: Who Gets What, When, How (1936)

I find it very funny that the most minimal form of being “not political” in a virtual community is a Temporary Autonomous Zone (TAZ). I was part of an IRC chaos magick channel when I was a teenager, and I submitted to a zine under my old handle (which is not Rayn) when I was 20. No, I’m not going to reveal the name I wrote under, which was published in chaos magick zines back in the day, because I’ve had a bucket of crazies following me around since 2008, with the insane network of anarchists circa 2020 being the latest instance.

ChanServ was a bot used on IRC (Internet Relay Chat) networks to manage channel operations such as bans, who got voiced, and permissions. Think of it as an early, early moderation bot. In an IRC TAZ, everyone who entered got all the permissions from Chanserv, so anyone could ban, voice, unban, deop, or op anyone else. No one had more power than anyone else, so there was minimal negotiation over channel resources. A TAZ is still an inherently political construct; however, it is a minimal political construct because there is minimal negotiation of resources and an equal, random, and chaotic authority structure. That’s not Discord, though.

Discord inherently has a hierarchical system defined by roles, a TOS, and members are expected to abide by the rules of that server. So, when you say there is a no-politics rule on Discord, you are inherently contradicting yourself because Discord is structurally political in how you, as a moderator, interact with others. How people negotiate conversations and interact with each other to access the resources of your Discord server is inherently political.

Discord’s structure makes any “no-politics” rule itself a political act. Moderators exercise power by granting, restricting, or revoking permissions, and that distribution of power is the very politics the rule tries to avoid. So while the intention is to keep discussions “apolitical,” it creates local Discord politics by determining who gets to speak and who gets silenced (e.g., banned, timed out, kicked, or limited to certain channels). A “no politics” rule shifts political dynamics into moderation decisions rather than eliminating them.

What prompted this was me observing a typical pragmatic versus moral realism argument that you’d see in any philosophy course or forum. I’m an academic and a computational scientist, but I don’t try to shut down any arguments with that, because that’s an explicit fallacy and a dishonest, bad-faith tactic.

Technically, I am a biologist. Yes, I have a biology degree and a biotech degree. I also have philosophy, mathematics, and computer science and engineering degrees under my belt. I have to work with people like this on a daily basis, and I find them insufferable, so the last thing I want to do in my free time after looking at stacks of dumbass papers is argue with people on Reddit or Discord when I could be fucking, getting fucked, or spending time with my husband. But, alas, they have no life. Keep in mind, as a computational biologist that reviews a lot of shit, I get paid to argue. These idiots are arguing on the Internet for free! The reason why Redditors, Reddit moderators, and Discord moderators get shat on so much is that all of their labor is unpaid! People with lives don’t take it that seriously!

    On to the convo:

A new person in the community defined morals as: morals = {a, b, c} exhaustively. An established member of that community responded that, for them, morals are either {x, y, z…}, non-exhaustive and polymorphic, or not inherently defined by the tradition itself but supplied externally by the individual. The new person replied, effectively, “According to my definition of a, b, c, that still constitutes a moral framework.” An established member who is also a scientist pushed back as if no definition of morals had been proposed at all, when in actuality they were disagreeing with the scope and applicability of the given definition, not the act of defining itself.

By the way, the symbolic way I’m defining this is ambiguous. You have no clue what anything is; however, it is ontologically defined, and the logic makes sense. That is the problem. An ontological definition was given, so arguing that no definition was proposed—simply because they disagreed with it—is in bad faith. Personally, I am a constructivist, poststructuralist, pragmatist, instrumentalist, and anti-realist, so I don’t care too much about the realism of the ontological propositions and expressions. I am pointing out logical mistakes.

This is especially egregious when individuals rely on their authority in a domain where their degree is not pertinent. A well-known issue with scientists is that their curiosity can outstrip their morality. Essentially, an ethics board composed mostly of scientists without degrees in ethics, law, or philosophy will make poor decisions and saturate the political sphere they occupy with advocates and lobbyists to bend laws to their interests. Therefore, a board with no philosophers is pretty sinister.

Morals and ethics are philosophical problems. To my knowledge, many people who sit on ethics boards that seriously address ethical issues have philosophy, and not just astronomy, degrees. Relevant degrees include psychology, sociology, theology, philosophy, etc. For example, I have a philosophy degree, so I am technically qualified and credentialed by a university to have these discussions. An astronomy degree alone does not make someone qualified to discuss ethics—maybe if they also had a theology degree?

The thing I find really funny about this group is that they avoid dilemmas. Morals and ethics are developed through ethical dilemmas. Their response to any type of dilemma is to exert their local authority and exclude, deny, or shut down conversations.

The difference between science and philosophy is that science is a little less messy and more defined. We can all see something and agree on what we see, right? The difference with philosophical questions and moral dilemmas is that they are relatively open-ended and ambiguous. It’s really amusing to me how those who try to argue philosophy are uncomfortable with indefinite answers that are open to interpretation.

It’s just funny how they tacitly assume that they are the only academics in their field in existence and that their opinion on things is the consensus, especially on metaphysical issues where there is no consensus. No human knows what the right thing to do is all the time. It’s great to know that they have somehow achieved a level of inhuman perfection.

  9. I think of psychic and magical energy as a gas due to its intangible and diffuse nature. Just as a gas can fill a space and spread out evenly, psychic energy can permeate and interact with the environment similarly, so linking psychic energy to how a scent diffuses through a room is useful. So, one way that I permeate a space with magical energy is through enchanted candles that I make.

The problem with burning the candles is, well, they burn. They get used over time. Considering it takes a lot of effort to enchant my magic candles, it gets annoying. Well, my husband surprised me yesterday with a candle warmer! I don’t post my magic gear on the Internet, so this is just a picture with a regular, mundane scented candle.

Since I don’t have to actually burn the candles, my magic candles last a lot longer. When I do quick and dirty magic on the go, I use breathing techniques to pull the energy into me, transmute it, and breathe it out. I call it a dragon’s fire breath technique. Using candles is a more latent version of that.

When I think of the phase state of psychic and magical energy, I liken it to a liquid or a gas. Some people refer to it as astral energy. I prefer not to use the term ‘astral’ when describing the phenomenological, noetic realm of subjective experiences, as it carries celestial connotations. ‘Astral’ connotes cosmic things, such as what is in space. I would use the word ‘astral’ if I were referring to the noetic space of outer space, particularly around the physical bodies of planets.

When I am referring to psychic energy, I am normally referring to the field, ambiance, and psychic atmosphere here on Earth where many of the structures emerge from human consciousness and intelligence. For example, I live in Atlanta near an important genius loci and nexus, so the psychic energy that flows around here is as natural as the skylines, concrete, and streets of Atlanta. Instead of being like the celestial light from the sun, it is more like the light from satellites and buildings. Genius loci are not technically natural. They emerge as a consequence of human architecture. For example, a green space in a city isn’t natural; however, it exerts an influence on people and makes them feel more relaxed.

Energy is not a thing; it is an abstraction. It is something we derive from reference frames and relationships and is not necessarily something that we observe. The energy in something is stored as potential by a field, i.e., a structured set of relationships and correlations within that structured set. A structured set is a collection of categories, variables, or dimensions where there are binary operators between those categories, dimensions, or sets. Energy is a scalar that describes the ability to produce a change or for a system to take action, and the potential energy of a system is held within the relationships defined by operators that connect the objects or entities. A simple way to think of energy is that it is a description of the behavior of something or how something causes something to behave. In certain esoteric contexts, energy and spirit can be interchanged, albeit I make a particular distinction later on in this post. So, in that sense, the spirit of the place, i.e., the genius loci, is how people interact with the space and how the space affects people such that their behavior is changed. So, the spirit of the place is manifest through how people interact with that space. The connotation is not originally naturalistic; instead, it is a reference to how temples and gothic architecture affect people. Gothic architecture was designed to evoke notions of the sublime, for example. The spirit of the place is manifest in how you feel when you walk into the cathedral.

I reject the solipsistic and human-centered view many occultists have. Empirically observable instances of psychic phenomena manifest through the art of magic imply that causality is inverted. Instead of mental entities supervening on, being emergent from matter, and being epiphenomena, physical states are subsets of a psychic domain. That would mean that all physical objects are phase states of a psychic realm. And, being manifestations of that psychic realm means that physical objects have ‘what it seems like to be’ that thing. Many occultists operate in a very human-centric or solipsistic paradigm where they believe that only things they recognize as having subjective experiences have those experiences. Since causality is inverted, that means that every infinitesimal cell of physical space, including the energy, matter, and physical objects that emerge from it, has a higher-dimensional aspect of what it seems like to be that cell. Physical reality is able to maintain its coherence because all aspects of physical existence have a higher-dimensional noetic aspect that is able to perceive itself. The cosmos can see itself where humans are manifestations of that. Consensual reality is cosmologically maintained by the mutual reference frames of the interconnected experiences of atoms, rocks, and all the way up to suns. If I experience you and you experience me, it creates a correlation and a local frame of reference within a manifold. Human intelligence is not integral to reality on a cosmological level because everything has a subjective experience, albeit unintelligent entities do not have the will to deliberately cause change. You are not just perceiving the cosmos. The cosmos is perceiving you.

A rock has a psychic form of experience; however, is a rock intelligent? I can draw psychic energy from a rock without encountering resistance; however, if I draw energy from a person without their consent, their will shall oppose me, much like how mass resists acceleration. That nuance is what separates panpsychism from animism. I do not believe that the rock has a “soul”; instead, it has a fractal, recursive, and chaotic higher-dimensional structure that gives it a qualia I.e., of what it seems like to be a rock; however, a rock cannot apprehend and understand its experience of being a rock. Self-similar structures that feed back into themselves are chaotic. However, it lacks the will to choose its next experience, nor does it possess the intelligence to apprehend its own existence. It’s like light, which can be emitted and absorbed. In this sense, it is sufficient to be called astral light. Metaphysically, the closet thing these objects have is called ousia, which roughly connotates a spirit.

Culture is implicit in any piece of technology. It serves as an abstraction for how humans teach, learn, and employ particular pedagogies. Language is culturally learned, and not just a reflection of human intelligence. As language evolved, societies began to develop standardized terminologies and methodologies for toolmaking. Cultural adaptation and technological innovation are closely intertwined processes. As cultures evolve and encounter new challenges, they develop novel technologies to address these challenges, thereby creating further cultural change and adaptation. Conversely, technological innovations can disrupt existing cultural practices and social structures, often prompting cultural resistance, adaptation, or transformation.

Implicit in any form of technology or anything that comes from human technology is human culture, intelligence, and will that is implicit in the design. Unlike something natural and spontaneous, like a rock, something like a knife was designed and manifested from a cultural form to cut. A way to think of the essence or ousia of an object is through its function. So, the essence of a knife is to cut. The essence of a gun is to shoot. This means that things that are a consequence of human intelligent design have aspects of human will that can resist you; however, it is an extension of the prototypical aspects created via human intelligence and will.

Complex human tools are closely correlated with the emergence of languages to encode precision and standards. For example, mathematics and numbers allowed for the creation of more precise tools, also with the ability to communicate these standards through culture. This also applies to gods. Many big ancient gods arose and came into being when human civilization began; therefore, the intelligence of those entities is anthropic manifestations of human intelligence and will. Many pantheons of gods are extrinsicly connected to human societies and civilizations – if those civilizations did not exist, neither would those gods. Gods are shaped by human cultures and belief systems, and they derive their significance and characteristics from the needs, values, and experiences of the people who worship them.

I’m using ‘existence’ in an abstract ontological sense. Existence is a categorical proposition. If I have a category called ‘beds’, then an instance of a bed would mean that the bed exists. If I have a category of ‘vaba81’ and ‘1gabaha’ is a subset of ‘vaba81’ such that ‘vaba81={1gabaha}’, then ‘1gabaha’ exists as an instance of ‘vaba81’. The problem lies in the epistemological justification. Can we empirically and objectively observe it? Frequently, objectivity gets conflated with empiricism. Objectivity means consistency. For example, 1+1=2. That is objective; however, it is not empirical, since mathematics is metaphysically a priori and epistemologically rational. How humans know 1+1=2 is something we do not know, in that we do not get this information from how we interact with the world. There is an epistemological and ontological debate about whether numbers are real and exist in a Neoplatonic sense or if they are a product of the human brain. Obviously, I assume that numbers exist in a Neoplatonic sense.

Whether we can empirically observe something or not is not metaphysically important, especially within the context of Boolean Logic. When we consider the existence of circles, squares, and even real numbers, we treat these mathematical and geometric objects as if they are real; however, we have never empirically observed a circle or even a ‘1’. We have observed circular objects, and we have observed symbols for ‘1’. Gods occupy a similar metaphysical niche in the noetic sphere.

I exist separate from a person’s representation of me in their mind; however, I exist in a noetic sphere as does that image in their mind in the same way a picture of me exists as do I, though I am not the picture. In this sense, I am referring to the image of gods. Personally, I am an atheist, so I do not believe they are real, so I assume people work with psychic systems and entities in the form of a god. The difference between these two is that 1+1 is always 2, while fictions, mythologies, civilizations, and religions change. Math (numbers and geometrical shapes) and logic have more of a tautological and objective nature than theistic fictions, albeit they both exist in the noetic sphere because one changes and is true in all cases deductively, and the other is not. We can say that theistic pantheons are fictions since they change over time per integrals of human experience and culture; however, Mathematics does not revise itself. It just accumulates.

We infer existential import from whether or not we can observe real instances of a proposed category. Magic, Idealism, and Panpsychism are metaphysical cases against realism. Parapsychological experiments that demonstrate and support hypotheses that show intentions, expectations, and beliefs affect physically disconnected and non-local systems are empirical cases against realism. Metaphysical realism is predicated on the idea of a mind-independent universe; however, the ability for our intentions to influence the world and the ability for us to gain information about the world outside of physical events are counterexamples to that idea. If our intentions can affect the world around us, then it implies that reality is not entirely independent of our minds but rather intertwined with it. This challenges the notion of a purely objective reality existing independently of human consciousness. Whether or not gods are real isn’t relevant; instead, what is relevant is the categories they supervene on and whether they supervene on human intelligence.

A rock is not extrinsic and emergent from human design, so there is no structure of human will that is intrinsic to it. Therefore, there is no will. If you tried to extract, evoke, or invoke the energy – the ousia, of an object to do something opposite its ousia, there will be resistance. The ousia, or essence, of a gun could be considered to be its ability to project force or cause harm through the expulsion of a projectile. The opposite of this essence embodies peace, non-violence, or something represented by a gesture like an open hand offering help or friendship. If you tried to evoke the spirit of a gun for a non-violent manifestation of peace instead of peace through violence, martial applications, there would be resistance and dissonance. The spirit of the gun itself is not resisting you; rather, an extension of human spirit is resisting you. Ousia is more abstract than spirit. Ousia is an abstract class that something belongs to, so the existence of a car, a gun, a knife, a building, so on and so forth is an instance of a prototypical abstraction, i.e., a blueprint. We can think of these categories as existing in a noetic sphere, so instances of my computer that I am typing this on have an ousia that is connected to a form in that noetic sphere. The thing that is analogous to a spirit or a soul – ousia, is a manifestation and an aspect given through human consciousness and intelligence. The ability for these objects to resist your will is a manifestation of collective human will, resisting you.

The only natural things around me, at the moment, are the sky and the ground. Since I live in a metropolitan city, everything around me is manmade; therefore, implicit in everything is human will manifested through the infrastructure and technology around me. Since the city I live in is a manifestation of human intelligence and civilization down to the laws I must follow in this city, the energy I would draw from objects around me has a quality analogous to mass implicit in the will that creates it. Laws and politics in a democratic Republic, like the United States, are manifestations of the collective will of the people; therefore, it has mass. That means that the laws of a metropolis, like Atlanta, have mass and resistance to wills that run counter to that. That is in part why it is so hard to influence political events. You are trying to influence something that is massive. It’s easy to do in a small city because you have fewer people; however, it is very difficult to do with metropolises since the genius loci of the city is massive. In my experience, when a genius loci gets large enough, it exerts an attractive force that draws people with sympathy to it and manipulates possible futures to create a teleological point where a person being drawn there is inevitable and a matter of time, similar to how the singularity of a black hole behaves.

  10. I think of psychic and magical energy as a gas due to its intangible and diffuse nature. Just as a gas can fill a space and spread out evenly, psychic energy can permeate and interact with the environment similarly, so linking psychic energy to how a scent diffuses through a room is useful.

  12. Quantum is a buzzword you often hear, though people don’t really understand what quantization is.

Quantization breaks continuous quantities into discrete units. Quantization frequently involves representing physical quantities, such as energy or angular momentum, as discrete values rather than allowing them to vary continuously.

This sounds esoteric; however, we deal with it all the time in the form of money. A very simple way to think about energy is that it is a budget that, in most cases, is balanced. Whenever we change something in the cosmos, we expend energy. In America, we not only have dollars. We have cents – change. An example of quantization is how 100 pennies is equal to 1 dollar.

So, if you ask for change back from 1 dollar, you could get 100 pennies. Or, you could get 4 quarters. Maybe you get 3 quarters, 1 dime, and 5 nickels. When we quantize something, we make it discrete.

I’ve been playing around with quantizing my magic. As I said in Beyond Tarot Cards, I am not a fan of tarot cards. Since ontological expressions that evaluate to true or false can be reduced into binary strings, we can create complex systems from bits – things like coins. I am 3D printing coins that represent magical binary states, where groupings of those coins denote magical entities.

I am designing a system based on quantization that uses binary states of coins to build more complex entities that quantize continuous values in magical fields. When I say magical field, I am referring to sets that create magical categories that have a structure, i.e., binary operations. The most primitive states that correspond to True or False in this system are order and void, respectively. Prototypical entities, archetypes, and their mythology are abstractions of those two primitive states.

  13. A reason I no longer use Discord is that every time I join a server, the gatekeeping, application, and vetting processes make me feel like I am joining a cult. Because I am waiting for my phone to charge, I decided to join an occult Discord server from my laptop while I wait. They seriously had a convoluted system of gatekeeping bots, only for you to have to fill out a 15-question application form where they wanted a paragraph for each question, which was basically an exam on occultism. It’s too much of a bother for me, and I don’t really use Discord. However, it is insane to me that to join Discord servers, especially the occult ones, you basically have to apply for membership to a cult. Absolutely insane!

The only people who would actually care to set up such a system or go through such a system are extremely online people. The cultures of Discord are setting up automated systems to select for the most toxic, extremely online people on Discord. Gatekeeping on Discord and other esoteric communities is a type of filter. They’re automated to create filters. Here’s the interesting thing about toxic, hateful, and dangerous communities: what makes them hateful is directly related to the people willing to go through those systems and pass through those filters because you only get the most committed.

There has been research done on this, and it is part of the reason why deplatforming does not work for the most hateful communities. The most committed to those communities will go through the filters and obstacles required to reconstitute themselves, where you have a selection for the worst of the worst. It’s counter-intuitive, but a system of automated solutions to gatekeep and vet to protect a community paradoxically selects for the most extreme and hateful people. You make communities worse by gatekeeping and not better because you create dynamic bifurcation where the most extreme, militant, and committed get selected for by passing through those filters.

It is basically a metaheuristic process similar to natural selection. In natural selection, environmental factors favor certain traits that increase an organism’s chances of survival and reproduction. Similarly, in the context of online communities and gatekeeping, the selective pressure comes from the criteria set by moderators or the community itself, favoring individuals who meet certain standards or criteria. In online communities with stringent gatekeeping measures, the process favors individuals with extreme viewpoints or behaviors, leading to the amplification of those extremes within the community. It’s the perfect way of engineering a memetic plague. Memetic is frequently thrown about as a buzzword in post-modern psychological model paradigms, equivalent to the words energy or frequency in energy model paradigms.

By memetic, I am referring to a cultural phenomenon that is taught, learned, and imitated. Since this selects for the most harmful individuals, it creates the most harmful cultures where virulent cultural elements can be observed by others they interact with outside those communities and imitated. Since memetic entities operate similarly to viruses, we can describe them as a type of cultural or cognitive germ. In that sense, Discord is a memetic sewer. I have psychopathy, so my mirror neurons are shot. Mirror neurons are involved in how we decode memetic entities, so while I am capable of superficial mimicry to be successful in society, I don’t internalize memetic pathogens. So, beyond annoyance, I am not infected.

Honestly, I think this is what led to the destruction of online occult communities. While the early Internet was less accessible and it served as a filter for the tech-savvy, other than that, it was relatively open and unsorted. For example, before Discord, I spent a lot of time on IRC. Early recommendation algorithms and machine learning models were essentially categorization processes. They analyzed user data, interactions, and content attributes to categorize or classify content into different groups or categories. These categories were then used to personalize users’ feeds, recommend content, and target advertisements. As these became introduced, it started creating these more and more selective filters that, via something similar to natural selection, amplified the worst of the worst, which started to infect and corrupt occult resources online. I think that occult communities were able to boom in the late 90s and early 2000s, until the start of the 2010s, because it was relatively open and there weren’t any selection pressures to engineer memetic plagues we are dealing with.

  14. Scrolling through occult accounts on BlueSky, I saw someone mention King Paimon. Now, that would not be a problem if I had not seen him in 50 million horror movies, 50 billion horror games, and just about every ceremonial magician on social media has evoked them. Though I am satanic, I am tired of people using different instances of the same prototypical entities. Magical entities are abstractions for patterns of different aspects. Demons are a cultural and mnemonic way of modeling these patterns. But they don’t have to be demons at all. Or angels. Or anything that corresponds to an occult theme, trope, or motif even. I just find it funny. Magic is predicated on will and making something different. How can you summon the will to wield magic to alter reality, yet lack the will to innovate in your practice?

It’s really time to retire most of the occult genre. The Book of Black Magic was published originally in 1898 and widely distributed in 1910. When I take a look at the evocations and sigils people use for King Paimon, I notice it has elements from The Book of Black Magic. Can we please use something else?

  18. I just took a look at BlueSky occult profiles and feeds. Sighs. Regrettably, services and sites that use the ActivityPub protocol are the least fucked up and hateful. That is a very low bar considering there are fucked up people on here, too; however, they, at least, attempt to maintain some level of coherent discourse instead of degenerating into hateful, incoherent cries for murder. How fitting that the insane occultists, who are Twitter expats, remain on BlueSky. I have a sneaking suspicion they are on BlueSky and not ActivityPub sites because people who maintain their own instances enforce heavy moderation.

Honestly, the ability to moderate your own site is why I am on here via my WordPress site. It’s wonderful. Again, this is a very low bar considering that independently run IRC servers, XAMPP servers, sites, RSS feeds, and forums were the norm back in the day, and people weren’t nearly as neurotic or antagonistic.

The dedicated occult instances on Mastodon — I don’t mean the profiles on mastodon.social — isolate themselves and tend to have a genuine sense of community. The occult profiles and feeds on BlueSky seem to just be another branch of Twitter where they deliberately seek out and call for the murder of people. I wish I was kidding. You’d think I was talking about Nazis. Nope, those folks lean heavily towards the left. Mastodon leans towards the left; however, outright crying out for murder is something you probably won’t run into.

Here’s the insane thing: I have Antisocial Personality Disorder; however, I understand that I live and am dependent on human civilization. Therefore, if human civilization does well, I do well, so it is in my interest to be prosocial. It’s logical. It’s pure lunacy that the Blue Sky occult anarchists are more lunatic than me. They’re behaving against their own interests. That seems to be the theme of America.

Evolution is a funny thing. Because it takes more to hunt and catch prey than to avoid predation, predators frequently evolve to be intelligent. However, humans are predators that evolved prosocial tendencies because it contributes to our fitness. So, humans are an interesting duality of cruelty and empathy. We’re all predators because we’re sapient. It’s a delicate dance on the edge of a blade wet and slippery with blood. I’m cynical. The point is even I recognize the benefit of human society and compromising within society to benefit. They don’t.

It’s fascinating yet horrifying to see the occult niche on social media platforms—especially Discord—spiral into insanity, suicide, homicide, violence, and drug addiction. The interesting thing is that many of them are aware of how toxic they are. Honestly, an authoritarian style of moderating many of these communities, where facts were disregarded, drug use encouraged, and mental illness enabled, set fire to many of those communities. Now, many of those people feel displaced, disjointed, and dissatisfied with the places for them to go, yet they are the ones that lit the fire. I don’t conform if there is not a logical reason to do so, and being a nonconformist saved me from spiraling into destruction.

  20. I had a sneaking suspicion that being extremely online and obsessive with occult memes and online cultures turned many of the members of DKMU into Markovian chatbots that are even dumber than even ChatGPT. Since I am an empiricist, I decided to test this hypothesis scientifically. One member, in particular, formerly named FishSticks, inspired this experiment, although I collected data from a large sample of DKMU members.

I collected a substantial amount of posts from the members of DKMU’s social media profiles, including Tumblr, Twitter, Mastodon, etc., and BlueSky using APIs and web scraping tools. I trained a Markov chain text generator using the preprocessed data from Tumblr, Twitter, and BlueSky. Then, I used the trained Markov model to generate synthetic posts.

These posts mimic the style and content of posts found on the aforementioned platforms that I know were written by bots, as well as memes. I trained it on accounts I knew were automated, including bots occultists made. I extracted things like word frequencies, sentence structure, average post length, etc., from the members of DKMU’s posts.

Since I wanted to compare the similarity between two vectors, particularly in high-dimensional spaces, I used Cosine Similarity. It calculates the cosine of the angle between two vectors and provides a similarity score ranging from -1 to 1. Since I am working with text data, I used word embeddings such as Word2Vec embeddings to represent the text data in a dense vector space to calculate similarity using cosine similarity or other distance measures in this vector space.

I used t-tests since I have a continuous measure of similarity (e.g., cosine similarity scores between real and synthetic posts) to see whether the mean similarity score differs significantly between the two groups. It didn’t. What does that mean?

To put it simply, it means that speaking to the members of DKMU is not significantly different from speaking to a chatbot that spews random nonsense. Considering they’ve bound an egregore to a Markov bot, you can actually treat them in a similar manner. If someone were able to scientifically prove that I am almost identical to a chatbot that spews nonsense, I would see that as a problem. I truly don’t understand how they can be comfortable living like that. This is an empirical case that shows they have absolutely no identity. At all. The insane thing is that many of these same people get highly offended when people mistake them for a bot.

Considering that many of these folks try their hand at being occult authors, that means you could actually replace their writing with ChatGPT, and no one would notice because they are almost identical to a Markov bot!

These extremely online folks have literally degenerated. Their brain is actually rotting. Wow. Stay away from cults people!

  22. Yes, yes, my previous post was about this blog being defunct; however, I don’t want to post or talk about this stuff from my main blog, so here we go.

I have issues with tarot cards. To be completely honest, my issues are exacerbated by people doubting my authenticity because I am not obsessed with occult symbols or talk endlessly about things like tarot cards, astrology, or grimoires. I wish I were kidding, but I’ve had little cabals, guilds, and cliques of people following me around the Internet for over 16 years at this point trying to prove I’m not legitimate. From what I can tell, it is because I refuse to join any occult cults or use systems that came from cult leaders. They find the idea of magic without an occult or religious system absolutely threatening or harmful to their self-esteem. I think it’s a weird manifestation of the sunk cost fallacy in that many of them have spent a lot of money, at the very least, if not large portions of their lives on these things. But, I digress.

One, tarot cards are overly complex and superfluous for no reason. Two, people who use them aren’t actually interested in whether the predictions are true. You can implement something like tarot cards without tarot cards. Personally, I like playing cards over tarot cards, and I’ve known some people to use Magic The Gathering Cards. In any case, we can treat denotations of magical paradigms as ontologies and ontological statements or expressions. As such, we can regard them as languages. A way to think about it is that I can store demons, angels, tarot cards, correspondences, etc. into a database, such as the MySQL database of this site. What does that imply? That implies that we can model magical entities as a mathematical set of tuples, i.e., an alphabet. The ability to store entities from a grimoire in a database.

Keep in mind that this site is powered by PHP and MySQL. If a person were to create a table in their database schema for demons, your ability to see that on the site would be an empirical case for the ability to do encode that information as tuples. The point is that we can treat the properties of these entities and the entity itself as an alphabet and words, respectively. That means that magical entities and correspondences are components of a tuple joined by operators to create relationships and rules. We can call that a language. As such, expressions and statements – such as the magical entity itself, can be expressed via a base 2 system, i.e., binary. An empirical case for this is the ability to store magical entities in a database, on a high level, which is digitally encoded as bytes sent across the Internet which you read through a CMS powered by SQL.

An example of a base 2 system is an ensemble of coins where each coin has two possible states. Conventionally, we can think of them as yes or no. Anything that you can store digitally is binary. Even an image. So, you are not necessarily restricted to yes or no questions, for you can abstract those. You can abstract different lengths and frequencies of yes and no into any pattern that you want. The point is that any person can create any prototypical pattern that they want, that’s a high-level abstraction of binary states. There’s no particular reason to use tarot cards or an occult divination system at all.

Here’s the other thing we know about how psychic and magical phenomena work: It’s based on subjective meaning. There’s a stronger connection if something has meaning to you, and it is subjective. There’s a larger dissonance between the prototypical patterns of a magical system and gestalt patterns and prototypical patterns of your behavior that emerge from your subjective experience. There’s a technique called a soul mirror in Hermetic schools of thought. Looking at your experience through a Hermetic magical system and language reflects back to you a version of yourself through the eyes of a Hermetic system; however, ChatGPT can actually be used as a type of mirror, too. One thing that I have been experimenting with is having ChatGPT analyze my journal entries and identify prototypical patterns that can be used in lieu of typical archetypes that show up in occultism. Again, you can treat the attributes of these patterns as tuples and reduce it down to a binary system that can be paired with coin divination practices.

It’s not just an aesthetic issue, it is an epistemological issue. When you are trying to scientifically prove something, you don’t actually prove it. What was drilled into my head is that science does not prove anything, because science is inductive and not deductive; therefore, nothing can be 100% in science. Instead, science supports hypotheses and theories. In addition to that, you aim to debunk your own hypothesis. This means, if the hypothesis is that the cards have a message in them, we should be able to disprove this. Since this is purely a statistical problem, this makes it falsifiable where a lay person can easily do Null Hypothesis Significance testing.

Randomness isn’t chaos. Randomness is when there is an equal probability of something happening. If there is a pool of events and all the events have the same probability of happening, that is an example of randomness. Information is an inverse property to randomness, where there is some type of sequence and correlation among pairs, i.e., a joint probability. Information is an ordered sequence of the joint probability of two things joined by an operator that denotes a correlation. So, that means if we are testing for the presence of information and a message in a spread of cards, we are looking for correlations, patterns, and redundancy above chance.

Say that a tarot card reader is able to reject the null hypothesis and show that there is a message in the cards. Does this mean that it was the tarot cards after all? No. What is actually happening? When someone with precognition senses the future, what is happening is that the information is being written to their brain and body. Biological systems are very noisy, and they are stochastic and chaotic. There is a lot of randomness. Similar to how random events are altered outside a person’s body through magic, precognition orders random events inside a person’s body.

The synaptic transmission of neurons—whether a neuron fires or not—is inherently stochastic. For example, the exact timing and number of vesicles released in response to each action potential can vary due to stochastic factors. These factors may include random fluctuations in the concentration of calcium ions or variations in the availability of vesicles for release. In addition, the probability of a neurotransmitter molecule binding to a receptor depends on factors such as the concentration of neurotransmitter in the synaptic cleft, the affinity of the neurotransmitter for its receptor, and the presence of other molecules that may compete for receptor binding. By manipulating stochastic, noisy, and probabilistic factors such as these, precognitive information is written to the person’s brain through the activation of neural pathways.

Because of this, probability manipulation can be used to influence a person’s thoughts. By manipulating the probability of them making a particular decision, you can influence processes such as synaptic transmission and the firing of neural pathways. For obvious ethical reasons, I do not use this technique often and I do not teach it. In this political climate, who knows what people would do. I can compel people with that technique, but it requires one enter into a head space where you are okay with total domination of another person, and that persona is hard to shake off.

This means that when we can reject the null hypothesis in a tarot card reading regarding whether the cards convey a message or not, the power isn’t coming from the tarot cards or any magical system. Rather, a person is using precognition to sense the future. They are correlating that with entropic systems to encode information in an external source. Similar to how noise gets ordered in their brain, the entropic system becomes ordered to encode information. That implies there isn’t anything special about tarot cards. Instead, it is a combination of psychokinesis and precognition. Of course that implies a level of psychokinesis and precognition is necessary, though, a particular system is not.

For example, my husband is a diviner. He has precognitive abilities, empathic abilities, and small forms of psychokinesis, which manifest through his use of cards as a tool. The cards that frequently come up when we’ve been able to reject the null hypothesis for me are:

    • King of Hearts
    • Queen of Spades
    • King of Diamonds
    • Queen of Clubs
    • King of Clubs

These cards frequently come up when my husband does a reading in a controlled experiment. We have an automatic card shuffler to eliminate any bias introduced from how we may shuffle the cards. My husband calls them the Five Monarchs, and he says that they represent five different personas that I have. He is correlating his empathic abilities with an ensemble that has entropy to encode information about my subconscious mind. These cards come up frequently beyond chance. Many occultists who have run into me are probably familiar with who is my Queen of Spades aspect that exemplifies the Evil Queen archetype.

While we are on the topic, formats like JPG and Computer Vision (CV) use Discrete Cosine Transform (DCT) to convert blocks of pixel data from the spatial domain (the original image) into the frequency domain (represented by coefficients). It does this by decomposing the image into a sum of cosine functions of different frequencies. The DCT represents the image data as a set of coefficients corresponding to different frequencies. Lower frequencies represent smooth variations in color and intensity, while higher frequencies represent rapid changes, such as edges or fine details. This means that any occult image that can be encoded as a JPEG is composed of sines and cosines, indicating that the image possesses harmonics. This means that any sigil or magical seal encoded in a JPG format is an image composed of sines and cosines that can be minimally represented with n modulo 2. If you encode the magical texts or magical seals into a digital image, it has a harmonic and binary representation.

I’ve been experimenting with the interplay of harmonics, entropy, and image formats to manipulate Johnson–Nyquist noise or randomness from beam splitters and laser pointers, with the aim of conjuring digital images and sigils directly through magic. My endeavors have involved extensive research and experimentation. However, regrettably, given the increasing radicalization within occult and paranormal communities, it’s too dangerous, irresponsible, and unethical to allow this knowledge to fall into their hands.

Entropy is not necessarily randomness, either, although they are often used interchangeably. Randomness and entropy become interchangeable when entropy is maximized. Entropy is a measurement of an ensemble and the permutations of that ensemble. A system that can be configured differently is thus an entropic system; however, that doesn’t necessarily imply randomness. Randomness implies one configuration being just as likely as another one. Having different permutations doesn’t imply all permutations are equally likely. Factorials can be used to calculate the number of possible arrangements or configurations of a system, which is closely related to its entropy. A maximally entropic system would be random; however, a random system is not necessary for there to a psychic influence, for there just needs to be enough degrees of freedom and entropy.

I think tarot cards denote a particular culture. It’s a signifier of cultural membership. It signals to everyone that you are into occultism and tarot card readers act as guides, so it denotes a particular level of spiritual authority. Tarot card readers would thus be equivalent to an evangelical that does intercessory prayer. Seeing a tarot card reader would be like a Christian seeking a pastor.

We don’t call Music Physics. We call Music Music, and we classify it as an art. To me, magic is the part of the underlying metaphysical aspects. The problem that I have is occultists’ belief that they have a dominance on magic such that people are starting to believe you cannot practice magic without occultism. Honestly, occultism is going down really, really dark paths, and I don’t believe you can spiritually progress while practicing occultism, so, for me, it is imperative to unlink magic and occultism.

A tarot card reader that claims they rely on intuition is a fake. If there were a message encoded in the cards, we could measure the frequencies of particular cards to see if they were random without the interpretation of the tarot card reader, regardless of whether we knew what the message meant. The patterns would be there.

It’s an aesthetic and a token of cultural membership.

  24. People are not as mystically, magically, or psychically disconnected as we think they are. Magic that you can interact with is not like a ‘set it and forget it’ thing. It stays associated with you per your potential to interact with it. I’m seeing many people who have the wrong idea about servitors…

Locality can be interchanged with causality in a lot of cases, so we can say entities are connected if they can cause a change in each other. For example, if I throw a ball at someone, there is a scalar of speed and a vector of velocity that carries the ball through the air and hits them in the head; thereby causing a change in their state. If I threw a ball at a person from my house, and they were on the other side of the world, the ball would hit the wall and not them. There is no connection because they are not local. Systems are connected on some level if they can cause a change.

The above example is ephemeral because there is no prolonged connection beyond those moments. Magic is more persistent because a person can interact with a spell they’ve cast or an entity they are interacting with per intent. If you create a spell, servitor, etc., and you can interact with the spell or the servitor, you’re still connected. If you can control a servitor, you are still connected; therefore, the servitor is a part of you. Since the servitor is connected to you via causal relationships, that servitor you created can exert an influence backward on you. What does that mean? That means if you set a servitor after someone and can control that servitor, there is a locality between that person, the servitor, and your mind, so a magician can get into your head or influence the servitor to influence you via that open channel. You can cut by cutting the connection to the servitor; however, that implies you can’t control the entity. It’s fully autonomous. If you cut off your hand, your hand is not a part of you; however, you can’t move that hand anymore. Your ability to exert a causal influence on something implies you are in that thing’s locality and that there exists a potential inverse where you can be pushed back on and influenced. Spells connect things, and servitors are persistent daemons. You are disconnected from a system, network, or entity if there is no potential causal relationship to imply a local connection.

We can think of the psychic plane as having systems of connected concepts and experiences. Personally, I am skeptical of the realism of astrology and astral planes, so I believe that any celestial metaphor or analogy should have some support. We can point to an area that is a cluster of hateful concepts and experiences and we can say that the influence of those clusters is the dominant force for that domain. We say that things are in a solar system based on something called a hill sphere.

The Hill sphere is a concept in celestial mechanics that defines a region around a celestial body (like a planet or a moon) within which its gravitational influence dominates over the gravitational influence of another body. We can simulate a psychic analogy via Graph Theory and force-drawing algorithms like Force Atlas. That will render something that looks like a semantic constellation. In this, there is an attractive force on connecting nodes after a random repulsive force is exerted on every node on the graph. The forces acting on each node are continuously recalculated based on their positions and the strengths of connections (edges) between them. This iterative process continues until the forces reach equilibrium, meaning that the nodes settle into stable positions where the forces balance out. With this, we can see a clustering of concepts, archetypes, patterns, experiences, etc via associativity and their correspondences. Within clusters formed by the Force Atlas algorithm, certain nodes may emerge as more central or influential than others. These central nodes often have higher degrees of connectivity within their respective clusters, meaning they are more strongly connected to other nodes in the cluster. Nodes with higher connectivity within a cluster are akin to bodies with larger hill spheres in celestial mechanics because they exert greater influence over the surrounding nodes within their cluster. So, there is a weak analogical connection between psychic bodies hill spheres in celestial bodies.

While we are physically in the same place, when people engage with psychic planes, a part of them is moving within those domains where there is an implicit influence. Mass is a property that resists acceleration, so we can think of a psychic analogy as what we will or will not do. If you are psychically being displaced as you move towards a domain that exerts a greater influence, you are accelerating towards that thing which implies there is an inverse relationship between the influence of your will and that body. You are paying for your magic through sacrificing bits of yourself, in other words, which includes your sanity.

  27. You know… after being involved in occultism since I was 10, weird has gotten… well, boring. All occultists seem to be the same, and many of the ones I knew in high school are still exactly like they were in high school. Weird is so normalized, it’s, well… normal. I’m bored to tears with occultism. Like, so fucking bored with it. If I see another faux magic cipher that feels like a cipher but is really someone who got high during a ritual and just sketched out their trip, magical sigils created through Austin Spare’s substitution technique inside a circle with Theban or the Malachim language around that circle or any other basic ass geometric shape on a page with bones and skeletons, I will fucking scream. My first formal grimoire that I kept in high school had scripts written in the Malachim alphabet. That was high school! The runes of Elder Futhark always felt dissonant and ominous to me, so I never messed with that. I only use systems that are resonant with me, which, at the moment, are systems I’ve created myself.

It’s like, “Oh, another deer skull mask. Oh, another basic ass monoalphabetic cipher that’s not even a polyalphabetic cipher just because it looks spooky.” By the way, any system of sigils that’s a monoalphabetic cipher is basically ASCII. The sigils these people create aren’t even comprehensive ideograms to capture the basic contours of the experience, so they are mystically useless, and they pretty much imitate the grapheme of the English alphabet.

These completely normal, mediocre people honestly believe they are edgy and weird. They’re boring. They are not innovating or transforming anything. They are just churning out things typical of that genre. They are living memes. I’m so fucking bored looking at occultists’ work nowadays.

I wish I was kidding. It is literally the same people from 15 years ago. Yes, they have really been doing this for the last 15 years. This time, apparently, I am being paid by the government to troll occult communities as part of a grand conspiracy to keep magic away from the populace. Yep, you heard it from me. I work in the government’s anti-magic department. Oh, and in case you weren’t keeping track, I’m apparently doing this from Serbia so I’m a foreign national, too.

It is surreal how everyone will watch these people spiral into psychosis and not do anything about it. I am seriously waiting for these people to be on the news. It has been the same people going from Discord to Discord and Reddit sub to Reddit sub for 15 years now. Literally the same people… I can’t even imagine living like that.

By the way, one of these said insane people is doing this really creepy thing of feeding AI text from archives back then to create AI-generated characters so that they can recreate the time when we were all in high school. I’m not kidding. This little insane cohort started when we were literally in high school and middle school. Yes, we were on online paranormal forums back then. It is my old group I spoke to online from high school that is literally fucking obsessed with a paradigm built literally on Dungeons and Dragons. If you know, you know. They are talking about Naruto and Dragon Ball Z as if this is still high school, and we are running back home to watch Toonami. I can’t grasp what happened to make these people stunted at high school.

I am finding that this is a common thing among people with schizophrenia or Borderline Personality Disorder. Apparently, they will try to replace whomever they have a parasocial relationship with with AI, so they will train the AI from media and create an AI character. It’s not just this person, which is another reason why I minimize the amount of faithful media I put out there. It gives me the creeps. But, yeah, that’s a thing that is going on. It is getting to the point where I think many of these people are sincerely dangerous to themselves or other people. If they spin off into psychosis and hurt someone, I truly wonder if Reddit or Discord can be held liable since their platform enabled it.

  32. So, after witnessing many of my enemies’ lives falling apart, I assumed they were trying to cast spells on me. If you know, you know. I examined our house wards and discovered that my husband made a modification to give the protective measures a rather nasty retaliatory bite.

So, I went on a hunt and found what my husband did. My husband has no chill, so I feel sorry for those who got hit with what he put in there. It was a sympathetic and contagious magical measure that I taught him. You create an effigy of yourself with things like your hair and fingernail clippings so that it intercepts curses. Then you place it in a box with hemlock, nightshade, and items such as a consecrated and enchanted mirror. Yes, there was actual belladonna in the spell box.

It acts like a lightning rod for a curse, draws the curse away from you, and activates a counter-curse that draws on the sympathetic property of hemlock and nightshade. Sympathetic magic works via like interacts with and attracts like, so since curses, poison, and hemlock have like properties of causing harm, they interact via that association. The same goes for the mirror.

Contagious aspects of magic are similar to entanglement. The idea is that once things come in contact with each other, they are connected such that one can influence the other. With things that were a part of you that are separated, the ‘entanglement’ is so strong that, in some cases, it can act as a substitution for you; therefore, a curse that uses your image will be drawn to that image, i.e., effigy.

My husband seems to have attached paper talismans that evoke Saturn, indicating that he wanted the curse to disrupt their lives by placing never-ending problems in their path. He didn’t tell me, of course, because he knew I would object. If you folks are reading this, that shall teach you. While I won’t curse you, people in my life that love me might not be so forgiving.

  33. Paradigms are ontological assumptions, beliefs, and expectations about the world, shaping how we perceive recurring structures or points. On a psychological level, they are how we connect data points from our sensory experience or intuition to see the world, so paradigms are models. Magical paradigms are useful because they provide a framework to perceive our anomalous experiences, such as psychically perceived entities, or altered states of consciousness different from our baseline level of consciousness.

One of the biggest challenges for people just starting out in magic is that they are locked into a particular way of perceiving the world. However, when those paradigms become too internalized, it can lock us into a way of seeing the world. The sudden, violent shift in experience that can come from something that turns our world upside down, an initiatory event, gnosis, or a shift in consciousness from drugs can create a liminal space that opens people up to a magical way of seeing the world. I’m not a fan because I’ve seen people develop more obsessive than enlightened relationships with magic because of things like that. That and people’s ability to do magic tends to become linked to that state. It is like that person who manifests psychokinesis out of anger. It is not very useful nor healthy to have to work your way up into a state of anger or fear to do something.

I do a lot of regression analysis. In regression analysis, there are points where the goal is to statistically estimate the relationship among dependent variables to connect the dots and create a model. The thing with these models is that there is a point where that model is no longer valid, and it is not an exact fit. That is similar to how paradigms work. They create a model of the world that connects the dots and shapes how we perceive things; however, there is a point where those models are not pragmatically effective.

For every paradigm, our intuitions, perceptions, and expectations break down and become continuous everywhere and differentiable nowhere, i.e., a singularity. All models are wrong, and all models are useful in a very narrow context. I have seen a trend of occultists internalizing paradigms when, in actuality, we should be treating them conventionally as languages. We use language out of convention where a multilingual person can switch back and forth between languages based upon convention. It also implicitly allows for the creation of an abstract and virtual space within the person’s mind that they can switch to. A type of daemon that holds that virtual world.

Paradigms are world views that connote categories, that are dimensions, and relationships among those dimensions create planes and a structured set. Paradigms are supersets of gestalts, defined entities, properties, and language. So, conventionally, you can treat them as a language since a language is the expressions that emerge from the structured sets of the paradigms ontology. Virtually, ontological languages define virtual layers, so you can treat magical systems as virtual machines.

I never ever interact with magical systems on low levels; rather, it’s all high level and abstract. There’s a level of skepticism there, on a low level, albeit there is a temporary suspension of belief. Technique-wise, I create ontological domains and systems of daemons, i.e., servitors, where the servitors function as personas that I can shift in and out of via ostension.

Ontologically, languages can define universes. I am skipping over the epistemological and ontological issues of whether or not these universes exist. In Boolean Logic, whether or not an instance of a set exists such that we can measure it is irrelevant, so from a Boolean perspective, we can just focus on the logical operations without getting into having an instance of that universe we can point to.

The idea of an ontological language defining a universe may seem pretty abstract. An entity is just a thing. It’s an object. I’m a physical entity; therefore, I have physical properties like Chemistry. Chemistry has things like formulas which we can express and measure in the symbolic language of Math. I am a physical entity that exists in the physical world where my existence emerges from physical rules and properties, so physical relationships and symmetries are intrinsic to me.

Analytically, paradigms are abstractions of symbols, structured sets, and define virtual worlds via the stories that emerge. We can treat magical paradigms as analogous to the high levels of computers where an Operating System is a virtual layer and machine. Beyond a convenient, concrete analogy, I am not saying that our brains are computers or that magic can be grounded in any computational model. It’s a metaphor. We can treat magical systems as virtual layers; therefore, we can avoid internalizing magical paradigms if we abstract it layer and layer of symbolism.

I am simply saying that we can approach different magical paradigms as operating in different universes, which allows us to abstract and use it in ways that do not displace our initial way of interacting with the world. We can intuitively approach it as we do a fictional universe or the rules of a video game.

So creating systems of abstractions is the same thing as virtualizing something. I’m a Linux User, but sometimes I have to use Windows. I run a virtual machine when I have to use Windows. I treat magical paradigms the same way. I utilize magical systems within layers of abstractions to create a sand-boxed off virtual realm to keep negative effects at bay. Creating a magical system of your own and translating one system into another version via interpretation creates a virtual instance that you can enhance by further abstracting it via homotopies. The instance of a magical entity from a magical paradigm is isolated from the rest of me via layers of symbolic abstractions that leave it within its own virtual layer.

Does the existence of magic make me think physical reality is a simulation? No. The elegant expression of a mathematical statement is the reduction of it to a True or False answer. When trying to prove something by induction, you’re essentially looking for a case that is True or False. A language is a superset of entities that are symbols joined together by operators. Languages can be reduced to base 2, or binary strings. Any answer to a question or a description that can be mathematically described can be modeled via a binary string and expressed digitally.

Simulation theories are just as largely unfalsifiable. From an inductive perspective, both simulation theories and beliefs about intelligent design converge on the same thing. Dev and God, in that context, connote the same thing. The testable parts of whether our world is a simulation are looking for artifacts. While the idiom “glitch in the matrix” relates to paranormal things, the evidence would be more mundane. An example of an artifact is the set speed of a CPU as compared to the speed of a simulation. The speed of a simulation is limited by the speed of a CPU; therefore, it can create an artifact. The physical equivalent of lagging would be a good indicator along with spontaneous loss of resolution I.e. continuous, smooth things suddenly become discrete, sharp, and broken.

No, I don’t believe the universe is a simulation. However, the existence of magical and psychic phenomena implies that the physical world is emergent and therefore a phase state. In a similar way, ice water and liquid water are phase states, the physical world is a phase state that’s metaphorically harder, denser, more ordered, and more cohesive. I believe the world is

like a crystal that emerges from a psychic domain. It would be a solid as compared to a gas, albeit there is a case for time being more like a liquid since time flows.

Magical paradigms are useful because they provide a framework to perceive our anomalous experiences, such as psychically perceived entities or altered states of consciousness different from our baseline level of consciousness.

One of the biggest challenges for people just starting out in magic is that they are locked into a particular way of perceiving the world. However, when magical and paranormal paradigms become too internalized, they can lock us into a way of seeing the world. For example, the categories that occult paradigms create can make it so that every anomalous experience gets labeled as an angel, a demon, a ghost, an alien, or anything that fits a prototype of the culture that they belong to. This can create fallacies or even illusions.

A project I am working on involves looking at the properties of experiences and entities absent any mnemonic aspects of properties, conducting regression analysis algorithmically, and constructing more robust gestalts and models to avoid being locked into a particular way of perceiving magic. I am keeping the term magic because it connotes the artistic aspects, albeit I am gradually purging occult lexicon that denotes occult paradigms. While the experience itself might be veridical, it being constrained by a paranormal or occult paradigm can create a fallacious and illusory way of perceiving it.

The sudden, violent shift in experience that can come from something that turns our world upside down, an initiatory event, gnosis, or a shift in consciousness from drugs can create a liminal space that opens people up to a magical way of seeing the world.

Analytically, paradigms are abstractions of structured sets that connote symbols. Languages that emerge from those models define virtual universes via the stories that emerge. We can treat magical paradigms as analogous to the high levels of computers where an Operating System is a virtual layer and machine. Beyond a convenient, concrete analogy, I am not saying that our brains are computers or that magic can be grounded in any computational model. It’s a metaphor. We can treat magical systems as virtual layers; therefore, we can avoid internalizing magical paradigms if we abstract it within layers of symbolism and treat it as the rules of a game instead of a theory.

I utilize magical systems within layers of abstractions to create a sandboxed off virtual realm to keep negative effects at bay.

Languages can be reduced to base-2 expressions—binary strings. Any answer to a question or a description that can be mathematically described can be modeled via a binary string and expressed digitally.

Simulation theories are just as largely unfalsifiable as theistic or teleological ideas of intelligent design. The physical equivalent of lagging would be a good indicator along with spontaneous loss of resolution, i.e., continuous, smooth things suddenly become discrete, sharp, and broken.

No, I don’t believe the universe is a simulation. However, the existence of magical and psychic phenomena implies that the physical world is emergent and therefore a phase state. In a similar way, ice water and liquid water are phase states; the physical world is a phase state that’s metaphorically harder, denser, more ordered, and more cohesive. I believe the world is like a crystal that emerges from a psychic domain. It would be a solid as compared to a gas, albeit there is a case for time being more like a liquid since time flows.

  35. People in occult demographics, occult cohorts, and occult niches feel isolated and as if there is no place for them to go after they, themselves, set fire to their own communities. I’ve been around occult, pagan, and paranormal online spaces for decades, and I have seen them gradually set fire to each and every community. Now, many of them have no place to go since every online space is a dumpster fire that they, themselves, set.

I know I have been ranting against occultism for a while now, but another disturbing interaction with a schizophrenic woman – no, not that one from DKMU, a different one – has me thinking about how occultism enables mental illness and how antisocial personalities inevitably set fire to everything. That person going on a schizophrenic rant about me – not the one from DKMU, a different one – inevitably got them banned. That person is from my millennial cohort of online energy communities from the early 2000s. The same group of people has been running around setting fire to each one of their communities, and when one goes down, they move to a different one and destroy that one too. It’s sad, but it didn’t have to be this way.

Occultists are the ones destroying their own niche because they refuse to get psychiatric care and, instead, enable each other’s paranoid, parasocial delusions. Witches.live is slowly burning down, and everyone is jumping ship to Pagan Plus, for example, albeit those people jumped ship from Twitter. Let’s be honest, occultists and the occult niche acted as a vehicle to carry a lot of the conspiracy theories that spread, so occultists were Trojan horses and arsonists. I’m very disappointed and sad about how the same group of people will sabotage their and other people’s lives. I’ve been practicing magic since I was 10, so I’ve seen a lot.

  38. I have a negentropic effect on psychic and magical energy. I attract it, disorder it, and reformat it. It’s similar to how ice forms as a consequence of water freezing. Heat naturally flows from warmer to colder regions, following the fundamental principle of thermodynamics. As heat moves, it contributes to increased disorder or entropy in the system it leaves. Paradoxically, this process of heat dissipation can lead to the formation of ordered structures, such as ice. The apparent counter-intuitiveness arises because, while local order may increase, the overall entropy of the system and its surroundings tends to rise. That is an analogy for how magical energy flows into me, is disordered and dissipated, and then is organized within my psychic and magical field.

If someone were to cast a curse on me, I would absorb and dissipate the curse naturally and then reorder the energy for whatever purpose I wish. Normally, I just invert it, which sends it back to the caster. Magical and psychic energy flows into me the same way heat flows into a cold area. That’s why other people’s magic has no effect on me.

I frequently accidentally destroy wards people placed on areas without intending to if I walk by them. I accidentally disenchant other people’s talismans all the time. It takes effort not to do so. Some people would call me a type of energy vampire. The psychic and magical influence I have is related to the number of magicians in my locality, so the more magicians casting magic on me, the more magic I have since I am innately dissipating, disordering, and reordering their energy as potential energy within my noetic sphere . I can control it very well remotely, such as with interactions on the Internet, but if, in person, a magician were to touch me, their psychic energy and tacit knowledge about how to do magic and what it seems like to do magic would flow into me, giving me an intuitive understanding of what they know and allowing me to imitate it. That’s a large reason why I don’t touch people. The siphoners from Vampire Diaries are a good fictional example of how I work.

  39. After dealing with a screwy schizophrenic person for the last 3 and a half years – luckily, their insanity stopped – and recently dealing with an unmedicated schizophrenic, I did some reading into why they are so resistant to understanding that what they are believing is not real and that they are mentally ill. Apparently, it is slightly different than a person who is Bipolar who still has some level of insight.

The former person believed they were different from other schizophrenics because they had insight. Well, I did some reading and found that there is a positive correlation between positive symptoms and poor insight. If a schizophrenic person has more negative symptoms than positive symptoms, their insight is less likely to be poor than if they have positive symptoms. I do not think they understood their doctor properly because they were under the impression that having good insight made them different. No, a schizophrenic with a lot of negative symptoms probably will not have poor insight; however, when they experience positive symptoms, their insight becomes poor.

I know for a fact that the screwy person from DKMU mostly had negative symptoms, but they had auditory hallucinations. The terrifying thing about both these people is their lack of insight and their delusional thinking makes them violent.

Schizophrenics in the grip of positive symptoms are unable to differentiate their paranoid delusions from their illness and, at that moment, are more likely to act violently based on parasocial narratives. The truly scary thing is the person from DKMU has schizophrenia that is resistant to medication for their auditory hallucinations, so medications will only do so much for them. They have insidious onset schizophrenic symptoms, which are correlated with poorer outcomes. Her symptoms creep on her over the course of years. She doesn’t realize she has lost touch with reality until it is too late.

What do you do with chronically mentally ill people who are likely to be violent because of a lack of insight that can’t really be treated with medication? Fortunately, that person’s behavior has stabilized, so hopefully, they are working with their doctors or something. However, another schizophrenic person has flared up and fixated on me.

It’s the same thing, except they are attributing their hallucinations to psychic abilities and telepathy, which is being enabled by occult communities. One of their delusions is that I am telepathically harassing them by putting thoughts into their head about self-harm. That’s another common one. Many schizophrenic people believe that others can read their thoughts if they look them in the eye, so they do things like wear sunglasses.

  41. Why does it seem like the leader of every online occult community is an antisocial lunatic that wants to start some type of physical cult? I swear, I have literally almost seen all of them with plans to buy up a lot of real estate and land to develop a commune, compound, etc. The insane thing is that when I was involved with early psionic communities – like Vsociety – a group of them actually did that. They created a cult and had people live with them. It was called The Divine Science.

Okay, I am done with my rants about occultism that have spanned a few posts now. I try my best to avoid joining in on the negativity on social media, which is why I try to avoid negative, argumentative discourse that is endemic to Mastodon.

  42. Honestly, the attitude within occultism is maddening to me. There’s an acknowledgment that Jung, Crowley, Blavatsky, etc. are all horrible people. You don’t have to convince them that they are awful and racists. We all know. However, most occultists can’t be bothered to come up with anything better, so their response is to use broken systems that do not work and tell people to separate the art from the artists and to normalize the evil, immoral behavior of occult authors because, well, they like the status quo.

There’s always been this assumption with sigils and seals in occultism that they are allegories; astrology should be treated as a pattern that isn’t necessarily literal. If magic shifts probabilities, then that means that magic creates topological defects and breaks symmetries, which means that it has an empirical connection to crystallization. And when we are looking at ontological and mathematical models that strongly model crystallization and symmetry, we find tiling and tessellation. I’m experimenting with tessellation, symmetry, magic, and psychic abilities. Honestly, I am through with the culture and aesthetics of occultism, so I am not using anything that resembles occult sigils or even calling mnemonic symbols or any kind of symbol a sigil anymore. Occultism, as a whole, gives me the ick. Occult systems make me feel so dirty that I feel like I need a bath.

Liminal space is a buzzword that you hear a lot. A liminal space is something like a hallway or the threshold of a door. We can also think of liminal spaces as portals and topological defects, which is an accurate analogy for the symmetry-breaking that magic causes in physical systems. I am thinking of symbols that are more accurate of a topological defect, such as a phase transition. Because of meta-stability, liquid crystals are sensitive to psychic influence and exhibit topological defects via phase transition, so models and symbols based on liquid crystals are realistic for phase transitions that liminal spaces imply.

A physical example of a topological defect is liquid crystals. I like playing around with crystallization and psychic and magical acts because it provides an empirical case. Probabilities are not abstract. Whenever you influence probabilities, you are manipulating where something is going and how fast it is moving, or you are defining where it is. If you are dealing with a system, you are coordinating how fast things are, where they are going, and where they are at for multiple parts of that system. You are shifting statistical mechanical properties of a solution. The shape and structure of a crystal are tied to the probability of that crystal structure emerging, so shifting probabilities shifts the shape of the crystal that we expect to get, which we can experimentally test and measure. Boltzmann distribution, a fundamental concept in statistical mechanics, describes the probability of a molecule occupying a certain energy state. In the context of a crystal lattice, different molecular arrangements correspond to different energy states and when you shift probabilities, you shift where that favorable energy state is likely to be.

An exercise that I did a long, long time ago is that I constructed a class, to act as an archetype, and properties of that class were a data structure imported from an actual social network from Twitter that matched the parameters of the properties of that class. That was before Twitter became X. I would not dare use anything from that domain of the noetic sphere now. I used Gephi for this. I used the Force Atlas 2 layout in Gephi to simulate attraction and repulsion forces via a Barnes–Hut algorithm. The algorithm uses an adaptive cooling strategy similar to annealing. This gave me a network that was also a crystal. I then dissolved a solute into a solution and grew a crystal where my intent was to link to the psychic form of that pattern, project the simulated crystal onto the growing crystal, and measure the structure of the crystal. That exercise created a magical, symbolic construct that was not only realistic but also empirically valid. I am thinking about using tessellation, tiling, and symmetry to denote magical systems instead of employing anything that resembles occult symbols.
