📰 Record Turtle Nesting Boom in North Carolina

🌎 Northern Outer Banks, NC: Sea turtles are having a banner year with 56 nests, the most since counting began in 2009. Hatchlings are already making their tiny‑tire‑track dash to the ocean.

🐢 Volunteers from NEST patrol 60 miles of beach daily, protecting loggerheads, greens, Kemp’s ridleys, and even a rare leatherback visitor. 🐢🐢🐢

Apparently it’s National Lighthouse Day, which we learned at the bottom of the Currituck Beach Lighthouse. May serendipity always conceal our ignorance.

The lighthouse’s 1 million bricks are being repointed, but you could still climb the 220 steps of this 151 year old tower.
