Acht Jahre später: 43 Studenten in #Mexiko verschwunden: Neun Polizisten festgenommen
Mexiko-Stadt – Im mexikanischen Bundesstaat #Guerrero haben Behörden nach eigenen Angaben neun Polizisten im Zusammenhang mit dem Verschwinden von 43 #Lehramtsstudenten vor acht Jahren festgenommen. Dabei handelt es sich demnach um sieben Polizisten des Bundesstaates und zwei Gemeindepolizisten der Stadt #Iguala. Zu den konkreten Vorwürfen gegen die Beamten machten die Behörden keine Angaben. Die 43 Studenten eines linksgerichteten Lehrerseminars waren 2014 nahe der Stadt Iguala verschwunden.
Die Studierenden waren zum Zeitpunkt ihres Verschwindens – in der Nacht auf den 27. September 2014 – auf dem Weg zu einer Demonstration in Mexiko-Stadt. An der offiziellen Version der mexikanischen Behörden hatte es starke Zweifel gegeben. Demnach waren die Studenten von korrupten Polizisten verschleppt und an die Drogenbande Guerreros Unidos ausgeliefert worden. Bandenmitglieder sollen die Studenten für Angehörige eines verfeindeten Kartells gehalten, ermordet und die Leichen auf einer Müllhalde verbrannt haben. Bis heute sind nur die sterblichen Überreste von drei Opfern identifiziert worden.
Unabhängige Ermittler der Interamerikanischen Kommission für Menschenrechte #IAKMR hatten den mexikanischen Behörden bereits 2016 vorgeworfen, die Aufklärung des Verschwindens der Studenten zu behindern. In ihrem Abschlussbericht hatten sie gefordert, das Verhalten von Bundespolizisten und Militärs am Abend des Verschwindens der Studenten zu untersuchen.
Eine Kommission, die der derzeitige mexikanische #Präsident Andres Manuel López #Obrador einsetzte, kam dann im August vergangenen Jahres zu dem Schluss, dass auch das mexikanische #Militär eine Mitschuld an dem Verbrechen trägt. In ihrem Bericht ist von einem " #Staatsverbrechen" die Rede. Die mexikanische #Justiz erließ daraufhin mehr als 80 #Haftbefehle, unter anderem gegen #Soldaten, #Polizisten und #Bandenmitglieder. Festgenommen wurde etwa Ex-Generalstaatsanwalt Jesús Murillo #Karam, der damals für die Ermittlungen zuständig war. (APA, AFP)

Mexiko-Stadt – Im mexikanischen Bundesstaat #Guerrero haben Behörden nach eigenen Angaben neun Polizisten im Zusammenhang mit dem Verschwinden von 43 #Lehramtsstudenten vor acht Jahren festgenommen. Dabei handelt es sich demnach um sieben Polizisten des Bundesstaates und zwei Gemeindepolizisten der Stadt #Iguala. Zu den konkreten Vorwürfen gegen die Beamten machten die Behörden keine Angaben. Die 43 Studenten eines linksgerichteten Lehrerseminars waren 2014 nahe der Stadt Iguala verschwunden.
Die Studierenden waren zum Zeitpunkt ihres Verschwindens – in der Nacht auf den 27. September 2014 – auf dem Weg zu einer Demonstration in Mexiko-Stadt. An der offiziellen Version der mexikanischen Behörden hatte es starke Zweifel gegeben. Demnach waren die Studenten von korrupten Polizisten verschleppt und an die Drogenbande Guerreros Unidos ausgeliefert worden. Bandenmitglieder sollen die Studenten für Angehörige eines verfeindeten Kartells gehalten, ermordet und die Leichen auf einer Müllhalde verbrannt haben. Bis heute sind nur die sterblichen Überreste von drei Opfern identifiziert worden.
Unabhängige Ermittler der Interamerikanischen Kommission für Menschenrechte #IAKMR hatten den mexikanischen Behörden bereits 2016 vorgeworfen, die Aufklärung des Verschwindens der Studenten zu behindern. In ihrem Abschlussbericht hatten sie gefordert, das Verhalten von Bundespolizisten und Militärs am Abend des Verschwindens der Studenten zu untersuchen.
Eine Kommission, die der derzeitige mexikanische #Präsident Andres Manuel López #Obrador einsetzte, kam dann im August vergangenen Jahres zu dem Schluss, dass auch das mexikanische #Militär eine Mitschuld an dem Verbrechen trägt. In ihrem Bericht ist von einem " #Staatsverbrechen" die Rede. Die mexikanische #Justiz erließ daraufhin mehr als 80 #Haftbefehle, unter anderem gegen #Soldaten, #Polizisten und #Bandenmitglieder. Festgenommen wurde etwa Ex-Generalstaatsanwalt Jesús Murillo #Karam, der damals für die Ermittlungen zuständig war. (APA, AFP)
