Kinto is a generic JSON document store with sharing and synchronisation capabilities. It's like Firebase but you store the data on your own server, it respects user privacy, works offline, stores data remotely, and synchronises across devices.

Today I'm completely removing the #Hetzner Object Storage service from my account, marking a month of successful hosting of object storage for my #GlitchySocial #Mastodon instance myself.
#Garage cluster is so good, I don't even remember I have it. It's just sitting there doing its work of storing and serving almost 200 000 objects already.

Well. This is ugly news.
It seems that every video on my PeerTube from 2022 and before is broken. They were moved into object storage, which has failed.
I can't reupload the video file, because it tries to put that into the object storage, which I think I no longer have access to.
And I can't move it to local storage, because it tries to get the file from the object storage. Which I no longer have access to.
I think the only practical way is to create an entire new record (new upload) for each video.
One. At. A. Time.
I think this is 140 videos. I didn't realize it was so many!
:uhm:
It would be a little faster if I could just replace the object storage video file with a new upload to local storage, rather than having to copy and paste all the metadata across browser tabs. But I don't think there's a way to do that.
At least I'm pretty sure I DO have the original videos on my workstation, although I will have to identify each of them individually.
That's going to take me several days. Possibly a couple of weeks.
I'm also not sure how much larger that's going to make my local storage requirements.
I really am EXTREMELY disappointed with the PeerTube object-storage experience. Particularly the part where it was very hard to back up.
I DID run the script to move object storage videos back to local storage, over a year ago. But I guess it didn't work..?

Retiring #prometheus. Migrated to 31 days retention timeseries on #VictoriaMetrics. Use #vmagent as replacement of prometheus scrapper. also doing remote write to second VictoriaMetrics, and #mimir to do 3 months retention on #s3 #objectstorage.
So far so good. Memory footprint has been reduced significantly.
