  3. Obesity experts concerned an over-reliance on BMI is leading to poorer health outcomes

Just a reminder that body mass index (BMI) is not based on science. It's a bunch of pseudoscience, misuse and misunderstanding of statistics, racism, and sexism. In addition to that, a lot of doctors are fat-phobic, and whether or not they are conscious of it, they are affected by their biases so badly that they treat fat patients differently. When medical professionals do this, it's not based on science; it's malpractice. This can lead to bad outcomes for the patient ranging from body-shaming, to misdiagnosis, or delaying or denying life-changing surgery or treatment.

Next time you go to the doctor about a cough, or a skin condition, or ear-pain, or whatever, and your doctor casually asks to check your height and weight then you should ask them why. Ask them if it's necessary for them to know your weight to diagnose and treat the problem you visited them for? Nearly always the answer is no, but you'd be surprised at how often doctors cannot stop themselves from implying it's weight-related. Your doctor's reaction to that question may surprise you.

  4. I found a calorie calculator that made some numbers fro'r me that show my calories and what I should eat/drink to start losing some weight.

As I love to overeat, I'll try to aim for the 2500 calories first, as I used to be at 3500+ so it's a big step. But small steps also make you reach your goal. 😊

  5. My video call went OK, I think. I felt so self aware of seeing my ugly mug in the screen the whole time.... But we were done with an hour, talked about loads of things. Next video call is next Monday with someone else. Then I'll know how it will go and if they can help me. Finding help to battle my unhealthy relationship with food is hard. But I need to take some action.
