Denkt ihr das teil taugt etwas?
Für 25€ kann man nicht viel erwarten, soll auch nur fehlercodes auslesen und Löschen...Klar ist das man(n) da nicht erwarten kann das es Tiefenauslese kann wie die Teuren geräte.
Was denkt ihr darüber?

Been thinking about reading my #car mileage, through #obd2 or can bus. Possibly sending the data over #mqtt via #Meshtastic or #MeshCore and loading it into #HomeAssistant.
No clue if that's feasible or how to approach that. I'm not looking forward to the crafty side of such a project so I hope there are some off the shelf components.

Did a further scan with #VCDS to double check all the #OBD2 #ECU #coding had taken correctly and do some real-time data monitoring, VCDS is way better for this - current draw when the ignition is turned on is as much as 14A !
New #battery holding voltage at around 12,4V with engine off, way better than old one which, barely 12V and sometimes less
Starting engine shows charge current from #alternator as much as 60A, going down to about 10A when idling (which means in future I shouldn't have to worry about #smartcharger overcharging the battery, I may even be able to monitor it this way).
Hopefully this battery lasts another 4+ years as doing all this extra coding is quite a mission compared to older cars!

Got 20A #SmartCharger for lead-acid (and 12V #lithium) #batteries - also has 13,6V constant supply for #coding #car #ECU (so starter #battery doesn't run down whilst getting data from #OBD2)
It works well - but confirmed my suspicions in recent weeks (alas) that battery in my #GolfGTI is goosed (installed 2021 by #VW dealer, presumably as warranty replacement with 0 record on service history, only worked this out from date code)
I'd noticed slower cranking in the cold, battery losing charge quickly and OBD2 scans showing "low voltage warning" codes from LED lighting control.
Will replace it before it bites me in the arse during #winter - #EFB unobtanium but got #AGM on order for fairly good price (will have to change coding when it arrives!)

There's apparently some drama happening regarding automotive industry forcing people to use expensive internet-enabled diagnostic devices when servicing simple mechanical parts like brakes.

Earlier today I taught my students how to pull a VIN from a Toyota Camry’s #OBD2 port, using #MicroPython and the #CANPico board made by @kentindell.
Fun was had by all. Students were very impressed. Their next assignment will be to pick any other available data from the car and pull that.

What i most miss from Citroen XM? Fuel gauge. I always knew whats up with fuel: how far i can go, how much litters i need till full tank.
After that i drove cars with dumb E-1/2-F.
I hate that.Ok, now i have car with some electronic in it, it can display whatever engineers can imagine.
It shows DTE - distance till empty. FCUK. Give me litters! 😡

#OBD2 scan VAG BXW engine for oxygen sensors.
So both of them doing something, and it looks like all ok. Yet there smell of unburned gasoline.
What should i look for? EVAP? Clean oxygen sensors? Check injectors?

Momentan war mir das im Vergleich zu LabLog noch zu aufwändig, aber mittelfristig ist das durchaus interessant.

Position (with a warmed engine on slower idle) is <5,0 degrees so all is OK here (the chain should be good to about 93205 miles / 150 000 km, particularly with more frequent oil changes)
The mechanics stool / creeper from #LIDL is worth getting if you see it in the middle shelf (I use it so I can put the #Thinkpad #T430 on the drivers seat to reach the #OBD2 connector and sit on the stool with the drivers door open to monitor whatever is on the screen (ofc this only works for tasks where the car is stationary, but if you want to do on the move diagnostics/datalogging you need 2 people anyway for safety)
