Considering I first looked into implementing OAI-PMH at museum-digital in what must have been 2015 or 2016, this really has been a long time coming.

The praise the Städel Museum deserves for their positive example cannot be overstated. The idea to use JSON in the resumption token is wonderfully simple, but reduces the pain of implementing and hosting OAI-PMH so much.

The #Städel has an #OAI API. There is no link to the metadate on the object page, so you have to go to "About the digital collection" (https://sammlung.staedelmuseum.de/en) -> "Learn more" (https://sammlung.staedelmuseum.de/en/concept) -> "Go to OAI interface" (https://sammlung.staedelmuseum.de/en/oai) -> pass a (fakish) registration form (they just log the provided data, no credentials needed) -> now you find a very decent introduction into the OAI interface (https://sammlung.staedelmuseum.de/de/oai/guide). Part of the Permalink is part of the oai URI (1/2)

@hvdsomp @jorol I Well there is #ActivityPub (JSON API) for distribution so there are some similarities. #OAI-PMH and #RSS on the other hand will not be replaced (#NeverTouchaRunningSystem). And there are binary and/or non-standard sync protocols (rsync, dbms...). #ResourceSync on the other hand never got off the ground, sorry!
