A puzzle for #rugby law nerds
In the #RWC2023 final, a try by Aaron Smith was disallowed1. Etzebeth fouled Retallick in the lineout (penalty)
2. The foul caused a knock on at the lineout
3. Play went on and Smith scored in the corner
4. TMO check disallowed the try because of the knock-on, but the original penalty was awarded to NZNow...if Etzebeth's foul prevented a probable try (we know it was probable - it was scored) could a penalty try have been awarded?

South Africa looking the stronger overall, obviously even more-so with New Zealand down to 14 players (and are arguably a bit lucky not to be down to 13).
SA winning the lineout battle, but still lost 1-2
Both teams absolutely immovable in defence and over the ball
NZ have probably shown a bit more with ball in hand though - but not much more
