Not sure how, but after letting the #nyckelharpa build sit a few days I found most of the keys were moveable only by sledgehammer. I suspect I messed up putting in the felt in the key box and stickiness set in. So today I'm catching up on podcasts as I get in time honing my chisel and sand papering skills.
Could I just use a belt sander to bang thru it? If I was not doing this in a full 2 bedroom apt I might have gotten one today. Nope, hand crafted baby. We go to war with the army we have ..

Srsly folks...theorbos, gurdys, and nyckleharpa are the power trio of the future...as Barreta said "you can take that to the bank!"

#nerdyharpa update. The bending of the soundboard was way outside my skill set. It soaked, I slowly cranked up the tension...it bent. A few days later I hung it to dry. End results..much like myself it is bent in ...curious ways. I worked out the last steps needed to put on the top soundboard ...and it beat on me like I owed it money. Even after filing down the tabs to match the bends it just would not stay put. Clamps were employed. There will be clean up needed. #nyckelharpa #nerdygurdy

Today in building the #nerdyharpa #nyckelharpa ....the body is slowly taking shape. We are up to the "let's sou vide the top plate" stage wherein we soak the top and bend it via jedi force tricks...aka rubber bands and zip ties...perhaps one of the least fascist uses of a zip tie done up today here in murica. Every step, both with the #nerdygurdy and this, I am stepping well outside my skill set.
If all goes well I can do protest songs on it and will have learned a new skill.

While studying up on the #nyckelharpa as the glue dries I found mention of the #tagelharpa This looks like a good cigar box build candidate. 3 or 4 strings, no frets, drones ahoy, and a bow. Yep, it's going to fit right in with my other builds. First though...finish what's on the workbench.
