  1. Long shot, but ...

Does anyone have any photos from Monday morning's No Hate in our Schools rally/press conference on the steps of the NYC DOE building (Tweed Courthouse)?

  2. #nyc #HighSchool #NYCDoe offers came out today for my younger kid.

    We have " #SchoolChoice " / aka publicly-sourced segregating.

I feel extremely proud of my kiddo who worked HARD to do well on the entry tests.

I feel relief that for the first (and yet, ONLY ) time in either of my kids experiences with this system, this kid actually has pretty good choices.

Its blended with a sense of guilt - because most kids don't get this experience.

If you know anything of high schools in NYC, how would you compare :

    Fordham Prep
    Columbia Secondary
    HSAS Lehman

At least this typically MOST stressful activity for parents and families of 13-year-olds in NYC is nearly over.

And now, it can provide a welcome distraction of something else for my family to obsess about for the next couple of weeks anyhow.

  3. I like this quote from a 16yo at the end of the article:

"'It’s OK for me to want people to pave the roads, because them being bumpy doesn’t make you a better person, right?' he said. 'It just makes you afraid of the roads.'"

#NYCDOE is an absolute trainwreck for disabled kids, and I hope the Legal Aid Society hands them their asses.

  4. *phew*

#NYCDOE wants you to install an app now. 🙄

I was concerned that they'd make this app-only, but they plan to make this accessible as a website. It fixes a huge pain point for #NYC public school parents.

  5. I was temporarily reassigned to a #NycDoe #REC for a week and a half, where we tried to provide educational help and daycare for kids whose parents were #EssentialWorkers and #FrontlineWorkers. It’s kind of a miracle I didn’t catch #COVID, since we still didn’t have masks. There were few enough cases that it wasn’t a concern, yet, that the virus could have been lurking in the building at the time.
