  1. Dear Friends,
This is significant news. #Democrats in #NewYorkState rejected a #bipartisan redistricting plan that may upset the race for #NY1. Some parts of former NY1 would move into #NY3 of #GeorgeSantos fame and won by (D) Tom Suozzi in the special election. This helps cement that seat. But the #Democratic challenger in NY1, Jim Gaughran, now held by Rep. LaLota (R), would likely withdraw because he loses significant support. huntingtonnow.com/congressiona

  2. CNN one-upped themselves with this 9-person election-night panel. 🤦‍♂️

And 15 people altogether in the studios across two sites.

  3. Because of course the House GOP would make Suozzi wait two weeks. And let me guess, he can't use the two week recess to get his office set up. #suozzi #ny3 #ny03 #uspolitics

    > Incoming Democratic Rep. Tom Suozzi is expected to be sworn back into the House on Feb. 28, according to a GOP leadership aide.
    > That will officially cut the GOP's majority down to just two votes, after Suozzi defeated Republican Mazi Melesa Pilip in the special election for a Long Island congressional district. It was previously held by expelled GOP Rep. George Santos.

(Sorry for the link which goes to the article below the one I quoted, because politico's website is brain damaged)

  4. No one does panels like CNN.

This is one of *three* CNN sites covering the NY special election last night in the same hour. The panel pictured had eight people. Dana Bash's panel had four and Jake Tapper worked the big board with John King. That's a total of 14 people in front of cameras. 🙄

And oh, CNN's projection that Suozzi wins the election came *after* the Republican Pilip conceded in a speech which CNN carried live. 🤦‍♂️

  5. Good morning. But that’s based on the win in #NY3 and nothing more. Everything else is pending until I read the morning news-ish.”

  7. @shoq

Is it really "santos' seat"? Suozzi held that seat 3 of the past four terms, incuding smacking santos silly in the 2020 election. Suozzi only gave it up because you can't run for guv and for congress in the same election. But I guess once you elect an epic phony assclown like santos, your district is forever tainted. #NY3

  8. And now we see why they had the 2nd impeachment vote today. They had to get in front of this massive defeat in #NY3. They knew,

  9. Souzzi has a 10 point margin with 72% reporting in #NY3. If that holds, it’s crushing, and as important as the win itself.

  10. BOOM. @NBC calls it for Suozzi. Dems flip Santo’s seat in #NY3

  11. Woohoo! #TomSuozzi wins #NY3 in the special election to replace lying magat #GeorgeSantos, flipping the seat back to the Democratic side of the aisle!

Suozzi outperformed predictions, and outperformed 2020 Democratic margins in the district.

  12. If Pilip wins #NY3, she will be the first pro-life candidate to win with a pro-choice message.

Is this a weird fuckin’ country, or whut?

  13. Remember, early returns always favor the Democrat. Don’t get happy. #NY3

  14. Polls close in 12 minutes. Brace for impact. #NY3

  15. “Polls opened at 6 a.m. Tuesday in the consequential special election to replace expelled former Rep. George Santos in the 3rd Congressional District, after eight weeks of intense campaigning by Democrat Tom Suozzi and Republican-backed Mazi Pilip,” Newsday reports.

Playbook: “Be prepared for a long night. Polls on Long Island close at 9 p.m., and Nassau […]

  16. Dear @bulwarkonline

FYI - The North Shore Leader publisher, Grant Lally, appears to be the same Grant Lally that ran for Congress in the #NY3 on the Republican and Conservative lines in 2014 but losing to the incumbent, Rep. Israel.

This would explain his interest in digging but it is surprising that he didn't otherwise flag it to any friends he might have in the Nassau GOP, unless he did. Yet another unanswered question on this very sad affair.

  17. Is there no recourse for #NY3 voters who cast their ballots for a candidate who doesn’t really exist?
    #GeorgeSantos is a fraud.

  18. I'm running against @dancinyogi for #NY3.I graduated summa-cum-loud from tRump University, with honors from Alpha-Tappa-Kegga. I'm invested in both checking and saving banks and offer advice to many fortunate 500 corps and government organizations. I'm NY-ish, flown out of JFK many times during the Carter administration and driven through both Queens and the Bronx. #GeorgeSantos 😀

  19. The fraud that got George Santos elected to Congress in #NY3 is really bothering me. Dems scrutinize each other during primaries. The DCCC was shitposting about Santos' positions. Yet no one bothered to find out if he had the jobs he claimed, had graduated from college or had any trace of source for the large amount of money that got him elected???? This is fraud pure and simple. The breathtaking lies should be investigated and he should not be allowed to take his seat. nytimes.com/2022/12/19/nyregio
