  1. RE: mastodon.nl/@nrc_nl/1165971171

Okay, even een post zodat ik er vanaf nu naar kan verwijzen.

    1. het is een fout van epische proporties om te rekenen op een consumentennetwerk in tijden van oorlog, aardbevingen, overstromingen etc. Als achtervang of extra? Prima. Als basis? Nooit.

  12. I've read Many Voices, One Song. A comprehensive overview of the organizational method called sociocracy. Interesting, very actionable and integrates well with other traditions I relate to: systems theory, organizations where all voices matter, non-violent communication, cooperative movements, iterative/agile methods. I recommend it and wish more organizations would adopt this framework.

  25. From Guilt and Shame
    to Self-Compassion

    By Myra Walden

"Are feelings of guilt and shame necessary to learn from mistakes? I believe they are not. We have been conditioned to think that these emotions are valuable to help people grow. In reality, they contribute to low self-esteem and can result in depression, anxiety, addictions, and troubled relationships. Sometimes, we become mired in a cycle of self-condemnation followed by self-justification. Or we get stuck in self-judgment indefinitely. At times, we defend against guilt and shame by denying responsibility for our actions in an attempt to preserve self-respect.

I propose that the natural mechanism for learning from mistakes is regret, which leads to mourning and growth. Nonviolent Communication provides us with an elegant process to learn from actions we lament."

  27. So:

*If you don't assume competence, you don't have to assume malice.*

It may sound naive, and no one wants to be thought naive. But it's a better way to relate to people and to do politics more sincerely. And a more diplomatic way to hold others and oneself to an aspirational standard; and more likely to be accurate.

On the other hand, institutions are self-serving and often don't act according to their stated purpose, so don't assume they react to humans in a human way. Both humans and institutions do what they need to survive. The mistakes of humans may strengthen concentrated institutional power.

  32. It's usually a cock-up, not a conspiracy.

Human beings are generally very stupid, and only achieve anything through trial and error and an ever-growing degree of specialisation.

If we don't have a standard of expecting errors to have been made in good faith, firstly the detail of the errors goes uncorrected, and secondly conflicts are assumed to be Machiavellian manipulations for private interests. #NVC #PleaseExplain

  43. "The Reimagine Communication #Podcast is a living conversation for those who sense that something deeper is possible – beyond autopilot, beyond the norms, beyond the noise.

We explore conscious communication as a practice for inner freedom and outer transformation. Not as fixed answers, but as lived questions.

In a world where old systems are cracking and relationships are being tested, we ask: How do we live truthfully in the midst of complexity? How can we be present, vulnerable, and powerful – all at once?

This is for you who are done playing roles you no longer believe in. Who long to help shape a new way of being human – in connection with yourself, with others, and with a world in transition."
