Can I buy all the tools needed for an IV from a #medical supply shop online? I am in #Australia.
I need: An IV set, #Hartmanns Solution, and #Magnesium Sulphate Heptahydrate (will have prescription). Do I really need an IV stand? Can’t they hook the bag up to something else? They’re expensive for a pole with wheels!
I can get (pay) a registered #nurse to come over and do it as long as materials, #medication, and instructions are provided. (Nobody has volunteered so far although I would pay you because I’d rather all the money go to you than be sucked up by an agency. We've just appointed a new clinical director for our organisation who's a #NursePractitioner. I'm pretty stoked how supportive our CEO is around #NurseLed healthcare services. We're a fairly small NGO that now has 4 NPs working in our services. That's relatively unique.

@stevenshayman It is so frustrating that this is still true. If you’re already unwell enough to be seeking out a doctor, you often don’t have the energy to be your own advocate. But med school seems designed to weed out people who might bring different POVs and experiences that could change this. I often have better interactions with #NursePractitioner and #PhysiciansAsssistant types than actual #doctors.
