Vom #Großinquisitor zum fünffachen Bischof

Über Johann Schadland wissen wir nur wenige, dafür umso spannendere Fakten.

Der #Dominikaner aus Köln amtierte von 1348 bis 1364 als Großinquisitor in zahlreichen deutschen Bistümern, zwischendurch sogar päpstlicher #Nuntius.

Aufgrund seiner Gelehrsamkeit und Bekanntheit wurde er ab 1359 Inhaber verschiedenster #Bischofsstühle.

Die Päpste in #Avignon vertrauten ihm folgende Bistümer an:
🔸Kulm (1359-1363)
🔸Hildesheim (1363-1365)
🔸Worms (1365-1370)
🔸Augsburg (1371-1372)
🔸Konstanz (Administrator 1371-1372)

Besonders erfolgreich war der weltfremde Dominikaner als Bischof nicht. Auch in #Augsburg geriet er zwischen die Fronten und resignierte auf das Amt.

Gestorben ist er im #Dominikanerkloster Koblenz, welches im 2. Weltkrieg komplett zerstört worden ist.

2026 wäre (wahrscheinlich) sein 715. Geburtstag. Der genaue Tag ist unbekannt.

🇻🇦Deutschland bekommt einen neuen päpstlichen #Botschafter🇩🇪

Der Heilige Vater, #Papst Leo XIV., hat heute das Rücktrittsgesuch von Erzbischof Nikola Eterović angenommen.

Eterović hat in seiner Amtszeit seit 2013 zwei Bundespräsidenten, drei Kanzler, fünf Katholikentage und vier Vorsitzende der Deutschen Bischofskonferenz erlebt.

Unter seiner Mitwirkung wurden 18 #Diözesanbischöfe ins Amt eingesetzt.

Nachfolger wird der niederländische #Erzbischof Hubertus van Megen, der derzeit #Nuntius in Kenia ist.

Wir wünschen Gottes Segen für dieses wichtige Amt!
