Recent #numismatic #news has been dominated by the European Central Bank's survey on proposed new euro #Banknote designs. But they aren't the only ones looking to update their notes. The government of #India has authorised the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to print an initial batch of 2 billion #polymer #banknotes for field trials, the government informed Parliament on Monday.

The "Eureka Bar" is a a "massive 64-pound California Gold Rush sunken treasure gold ingot". A 933.34 troy ounces gold bar, recovered from the famed 1857 shipwreck of the SS Central America, known as the ‘Ship of Gold,' widely regarded as the largest surviving gold artifact of the California Gold Rush.

Nickel update! I've found three more book fillers for my Jefferson album 1 book this week. My mom gave me the album for Christmas left over from her coin hobby pre-kids and my dad gave me his silver nickel collection from when he was a kid, so I've only found one of the war nickels myself, but it's a "family" project so it counts.

Very successful #banknote and #coin auction today - some of the #Polish coins fetched amazing prices. While the top price was predictably achieved by a #gold #Ducat which went for £2,000, quite a few #silver coins fetched prices in the hundreds. Other than a #telephone bidder (a longstanding client who spends big) all our bids today were obtained via the two online platforms we use (www.the-saleroom.com and www.easyliveauction.com).

The Australian Bird of the Year 2025 has been announced!
Congratulations to the Tawny Frogmouth! A beautiful bird and a well deserved winner.

The proposal for a US commemorative coin featuring Trump has drawn.... many comments from the #Numismatic community - a few I have seen and elected not to share - I'd rather comment on coins which do exist or at least are definitely in production, rather than politics. On April 15th, 1870, the Canadian government passed legislation intended to drive U.S. currency out of the country. To ensure that depreciated U.S. silver did not flow back into Canada, the legislation stating that U.S. silver coins were legal tender in Canada at a 20 per cent discount, a rate far below their bullion value.#CanadaIsAwesome #numismatic #Money
