Hundreds of supporters of the Cuban Revolution arrived in #Cuba in March, as part of the #NuestraAmericaConvoy, whose goal was to show #solidarity with Cuba’s right to self-determination amidst a complete oil #blockade and 67-yr general blockade sponsored by the #US government...

Because Cuba refuses to bow to the [US], US #sanctions have sentenced the island to a slow #genocide, which is playing out in real time currently with Cubans encountering on a daily basis: food shortages, blackouts that last for days [...], epidemics of diseases spread by mosquitos and more.

Longtime organizer Brenda Lopez recently returned, and is reporting back on how critical it is for people in the US to fight to end the blockades against Cuba, since our taxes are fueling this genocide.

“I traveled to #Cuba this month,” writes Gerardo Delgado. “As a #CubanAmerican, that sentence carries the weight of longing born of an estrangement from my roots. For much of my life, Cuba existed as a distant story, a place I knew only through descriptions from my father.

“I was there as part of an international solidarity convoy; over 500 representatives from more than 30 countries, united by a simple conviction: no country has the right to strangle another simply because it chose a different path. I cannot stand by while the island of my family’s heritage is suffocated.”

Delgado is an educator in Miami, Florida, working with the Miami Coalition to End the #US Blockade of Cuba. He recently returned from Cuba, where he went with #CODEPINK’s delegation to the island as part of the #NuestraAméricaConvoy.

HAVANA (AP) — Two sailboats that went missing carrying humanitarian aid from southern #Mexico to #Cuba landed in Havana on Saturday afternoon hours after Mexico’s navy said it had located the boats days after they went incommunicado because of bad weather.

The vessels carrying at least eight people departed from Isla Mujeres in southern Mexico on March 20 and then lost contact, fueling concern in Mexico, Cuba and beyond.

In a post on X, the navy said an aircraft spotted the boats 80 nautical miles northwest of Havana. Upon arriving to the island, the coordinator of the sailing convoy said bad weather was responsible for the delay because the boats had to take a longer route and the sailors were “never in any serious danger.”
