Children being property of their parents is a historically recent idea although in some cultures they weren't even seen as people but the modern western conception of children being absolutely subserviant to their parents is a product of the nuclear family which is a product of capitalism and patriarchy

Your post reminds me that I need to join up with the local Carers organisation.And what you describe worries me - I've got my elderly relative, aflicted with dementia, watching a movie. #MyHouseInUmbria. It's late and I've got minor skin surgery tomorrow. So I've gone to bed.
But what happens in the future if they will not sleep and can't be left alone?
This #NuclearFamily stuff looks badly designed for the young and the old and their care-givers.
