Yell Out is a D.I.Y. festival. Together we stand for feminism, solidarity and respect within and beyond the punk community. We want to embrace the voices and presence of women, trans women, non-binary, genderqueer, and all folks who are not hetero cis males.

All profit from the fest will be split between two organizations: Ele Elna Elak (a volunteer-driven initiative dedicated to supporting Palestinian families in need) and Chez Doris (a Montreal-based organization that offers a safe, non-discriminatory space where women can receive support to regain their dignity and rebuild their lives).

Children being property of their parents is a historically recent idea although in some cultures they weren't even seen as people but the modern western conception of children being absolutely subserviant to their parents is a product of the nuclear family which is a product of capitalism and patriarchy

As elderly relative loses more and more of their short term memory, they need more familiar social structure around them providing minor support and guidance.

The #NuclearFamily model fails them utterly.

And commercialised Aged Care rips them from their familiar environment, leaving them without locational and homely anchors.

It is too late for my elderly relative.

I think a lot have this naustalgic (sic!) vision of a happy 1950's family where father is in charge and mother really isn't pumped up on #Valium, no, really, she's not!

But it's okay because the kids will still be able to buy a house for the price of a small car and get pensions for the rest of their lives after working for the post office for a few weeks.
