Es gibt eine #NTD, die beim Menschen meist tödlich verläuft. Schon früher gab sie Rätsel auf: Z.B. löst bereits der Anblick oder Klang von Wasser bei vielen der Betroffenen Angst aus💦🥴
Bis in die 2000er war die Krankheit auch in 🇩🇪 noch präsent; in Wäldern warnten Schilder. 🎧👇 -

#Schistosomiasis is a neglected tropical disease (#NTD); one diagnosis is finding the parasite egg in urine. It can be as low as one egg in one liter. We can use our microfluidic to find and identify the egg using cheap microscopes.

Would never have thought that a paper about #scabies #outbreaks in UK #carehomes would end up with over 100 citations (and at the moment is my most cited paper)
And with scabies now being a Neglected Tropical Disease, good to see a bit of momentum building about addressing this #NTD as a global #publichealth problem
