In the lead up to the Victorian and especially the NSW state elections we're gonna hear One Nation whine about any new gun laws coming after "law abiding gun owners!"
Well one of the Bondi massacre shooters (the father) legally owned all of the guns he had that day.
So, essentially, you're a "law abiding gun owner" until you're not.
Then, there's the fact that gun arsenals on farms are targets for aggravated burglary like that happened in Tasmania recently.

The 2024 New South Wales council elections are happening today. Don't forget to vote, and get a Democracy Sausage at the exit!
Notably, this election will be affected by an administrative bungle by the RWNJ Liberal Party of NSW. 140 candidates for 16 councils failed to get their paperwork submitted in time so aren't on the ballot.
Also notable, the ballot this year has approximately 120 conspiracy-theory nutjobs, anti-lockdown nutjobs, COVID-denial nutjobs. It's an extraordinarily high number of "fringe" candidates.
Vote-counting will begin at 7:00 tonight, with results for most seats to be announced tonight. Postal votes and seats that are so close they'll require a recount could take a fortnight or more.

The #NSW state government has announced it will put a record $3 billion dollars of funding into public #hospitals in Western #Sydney.
The multi-billion dollar investment will be allocated in the state budget for spending on building new hospitals, and upgrading existing hospitals across greater Western Sydney.

I’m an outsider here obviously, but w/r/t the NSW. Greens I assumed they’d made the upper house their priority, rather than try to expand to more lower house seats (which to me is the sensible choice). And they’ve likely won Balmain back, if closely, and locked Newtown for the forseeable future.
But to me if they can’t then lock in more MLCs the NSW Greens are going to have some hard questions from the federal party and other States

Over the past decade, the Libs have blindly followed Murdoch's lead.
They've pushed culture wars, they've resisted climate action, and they've privatised public assets. They've tried Islamophobia, homophobia, outright racism (particularly against Africans and Aboriginal people), and transphobia.
And now they're out of office across the mainland. Federal and state.
Maybe pretending this is America and playing to "the base" isn't working so well.
