I just got this email regarding the spring 2026 Midwest Several Complex Variables conference:
"Unfortunately we did not get the NSF grant so the conference will not run this year."
I was not planning to attend this time (Florida Polytechnic being, for me, in an inconvenient corner of the "midwest") but I do co-organize a smaller annual workshop with a similar type of NSF conference grant. We got some funding in 2025 (>insert Theoden meme<), but I am not sure we will try for 2026. This #NSFfunded SCV event getting canceled is not good for anybody.

The U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF) has awarded Trusted CI, the NSF Cybersecurity Center of Excellence, a five-year, $6-million per-year award to run through September 2029. Berkeley Lab will now serve as Trusted CI’s central steward.
This award will allow Trusted CI to accommodate its rapidly growing community by supporting regulated research, expanding the Trusted CI Framework, and addressing pressing national cybersecurity workforce development needs with NSF’s support.

Our BRC-BIO grant will support our work using #astrangia to study how variation in multi-partner symbioses affects host immunity. This project also supports undergraduate research experiences for students at TXST and RWU (w/ awesome co-PI Koty Sharp). We’re pretty pumped!
