The slowed pace of #grants by the #NationalScienceFoundation (#NSF), under attack from #WhiteHouse, could put #US at disadvantage with China, scientists warned.

#NSB oversees #NSF, one of most important #science agencies in #US. NSF funds basic research across many scientific fields, supports scientists and students, and build foundation for discoveries in public health, environmental protection, national security, technology, and economy.
It is not supposed to be a political appendage of White House. Its 25 members are appointed by the president, but serve staggered 6yr terms.
