I like Yasujiro Ozu's movies, but they have a tendency to hypnotize me into relaxation. Inevitably I miss about a third of the movie and have to rewatch. But rewatching you see things you missed, so maybe not a bad thing?

It is really difficult to amuse me beyond what this movie achieved. Everything about it is delightful: the premise, the execution, the composition. How imaginative! It's almost like My Dinner with Andre in that it shows nothing and tells everything. But what it shows is telling.

I'm not sure if I could tell you if this movie is "good" or "bad." What I can say is that it is very realistic if you have ever been close to someone who is struggling with a destructive addiction. Suffice to say, it handily held my attention.
