    Who is the godmother or goddfather of punk?

    My vote goes to Iggy Pop. Often Patty Smith is named. In my opinion that's completely false (seen her live twice a long time ago, a nearly traumatising experience).
    Watch a live recording of Iggy Pop's "Now I Wanne Be Your Dog" from 1969. This song has been covered lots of times by tons of punk bands and even R.E.M.
