Republicans and other would-be election stealers like to spin tales of Hillary driving around raiding your mail box for your mail-in ballot and handing them off to a room full of vaguely turban-wearing brown people for fake voting, but this is what most REAL vote-by-mail interference looks like (other than Republicans).

I'm a little late for #Caturday, but here's a picture I really like of Notty Cat and I hanging out on my recliner.

I'm a big fan of "talking pet" videos with the sound buttons. Curious, but even a tiny starter kit is expensive. But in Goodwill I found a set of 8 knock-off buttons for under $10! The experiment begins! She's very curious, but the "push button with paw" training proves to be surprising hard. Think she will figure it out fairly soon.

Notty Cat and Susy Cat update. Notty has been on the bed the last two nights, and is getting braver about coming up in other parts of the day, though it definitely is still Susy territory. I've been giving them treats on the bed together (separate servings though, as Notty is an aggressive chow-hound). Progress is being made.

A historic event last night as, after 9 months inside, newest rescue, Notty Cat (L) climbed into bed with Susy (R) and my wife and I. Things were pretty chill for both kitties, and both slept at least some. Dunno what happened in the night, but nothing that woke us up. Yay!

Dash Dino (not actually a dino) is good to have along when I'm traveling, but he's no substitute for my kitties, Susy and Notty Cat. I know they're being well cared for at home, but I hope they're not too upset at my absence or causing too much property damage...

The fire department had to yank out our stove and cut a hole in the wall to rescue our cat Notty, who had somehow gotten down from the attic, fallen, and wedged herself UPSIDE DOWN at the base of the 1940s lathe & plaster wall. The kitchen is a disaster, but Notty seems fine, if understandably traumatized. So are we!

We have an unused fireplace in our living room which was blocked by furniture and closed insert doors. But this year a colony of Vaux's swifts moved in. Today, one of them somehow got past the dampers into the fireplace (I was notified by Notty Cat). I just moved half my living room and was able to open the insert and rescue the bird. It looked beat, but it IMMEDIATELY flew at least a block away when released, so I hope it's fine.

Because she loves to drink from the similarly curved faucet in the bathroom next door, I just installed this new cat fountain for Notty cat. So far she has sniffed it, but is mostly indifferent. She is a cat, after all. Hopefully she'll warm up to it. If not, I'll try removing the spigot, which should result in a bubbling spring effect she may find more acceptable. I can always reinstall the pipe later.

One sign that Notty Cat (Not My Cat) is now our cat is that she is suddenly in and on, EVERYTHING.

I turned in the latest installment of my "Minions at Work" photo comics to Pulphouse Fiction Magazine today, allowing me some time to work on building some Minions props, a process that's a lot more relaxing that doing comic layout and dialog writing.
One ongoing element of my comics is that most of them incorporate one or more "Minion Cats," even if they aren't integral to the plots or jokes of that comic. The premise is that, due to a lab accident, Minion cat (there was originally only one) has become in space, time, and now, the multiverse, and they pop in and out of existence at will, sometimes "many" of them at once.
The cats are "played" by hand painted and sometimes customized plastic cat figures decorated in a "Minion uniform" pattern. The originals originated as a bag of toy cats I ordered from Amazon. Later, I ordered a whole BOX of the same cats from a seller who supplies prizes and favors to carnivals and fairs. With extras, I started cutting them up, swapping parts, and adding limited articulation to some like turning heads and movable tails. A few others are actually 3D printed.
But before I found that carnival supplier, I ordered a lot of other cats on-line hoping for alternate poses to use. Instead, I discovered that most listing for these things are vague or inaccurate in describing the size, and ended up with several assortments of cats that were too small. And thus, came the idea for "minion kittens." I started painting a few, and finished exactly one, before putting it aside as being very difficult. My hands aren't that steady, some some of the "Minion" pattern is pretty fidgety.
But recently I discovered "brush tip" markers for art and calligraphy and wondered if they could be used for painting details on action figures. Tonight I tried it out, and so far, pretty good. I made some slips, but it made it MUCH easier to paint the details on the smaller cats. I don't know of the paint will fade or rub off. Only time and further experiments will tell. But I'm happy with things so far.
In related news, I today and realized that our new shorthair cat, Notty, is a very good physical match for Minion cat. I pulled out a tape measure and sure enough, she's an almost exact scale match for her 1/6th scale counterparts. I can use photo reference of her to design future custom cats, and to figure out better carrying positions and poses for my 12" action figure characters. I asked my wife if that made Notty tax deductible, but she just laughed...

Not My Cat delves even deeper into "helping" with my wife's filing system...

Not My Cat with her favorite toy. Two nights ago, after play time I collapsed the telescoping pole, rolled up the string, palmed the bird, and hid it on top of a bookcase behind a finger print kit on display there (my wife writes mystery). But by morning, she had found a way up, closed the lid on the kit, and was dragging the toy, string trailing, all over the building! This cat is trouble...

Not My Cat LOVES the bird on a string/fishing pole toy, as most cats do. But she is GOOD at it, fast, athletic, and vicious. Supports my theory that she's been hunting lots of birds out there. All the more reason I'm glad we're bringing her inside.
