Fengersfors är en gammal bruksort i Dalsland där Lisefors järnbruk nalandes på 1700-talet. Järnbruket lades ner 1884 men två år innan dess anlades ett träsliperi, dvs en pappersmassafabrik av den dåvarande bruksägaren Christopher Sahlin. 1892 grundades ett bolag för att anlägga ett kemiskt pappersbruk.
