"Fix Your Radio Hour" a success, except I forgot to take a photo of my operating position at Burns Park in Ann Arbor under the shelter. (Very civilized, with a picnic table to set up on, and a handy nail to hang my 2 meter roll-up J-pole antenna.)
I have borrowed a #XieguG90 to use as a portable HF station, and I have an offer to borrow an end-fed random wire antenna. This would be the park to operate all that from. The #G90 is in a very nice go kit.

Scoping out Ann Arbor parks for a weekday morning activation - I think the next one will be Fritz Park which has lots of trees and good elevation (285m, or about 30m more elevation than home) for a 2 meter QSO.

Ann Arbor is celebrating its bicentennial this year, and one of the parks was recently renamed Bicentennial Park, and now I'm scheming to operate a special event station from there.

Has anyone ever done this? I see directions at the FCC.

Headed out to Burns Park AA-023 this morning to work the weekly morning roundtable on #N8DUY 145.15- , with Jim #W8STX net control.
It was windy and I had a lot of wind noise on my mic until I got under the shelter. I hung up my #N9TAX roll-up J-pole, connected it to my #Quansheng HT, with good reception reports.
A strap to put around a tree so that I can hang the J-pole from it would be a useful addition to the kit.

I'm about 15% (23 of 160+) done making a numbering plan for Ann Arbor parks, and I'm using #arborwiki to publish the work to date.

In parallel I'm working on an annotated PDF based on the official 2023 city park list.
Arborwiki is kind of old in spots, but fortunately parks don't change all that much. The plan is to edit as I go to include radio operations.
