CW: CW: AI, strong language
Really, I have had quite enough of AI being shoved into every bloody thing.
AI is unethical. It kills jobs. It concentrates power and wealth in the hands of people who already have far too much of both.
And yet a certain type of person seems to fervently believe that the answer to every conceivable problem is: MORE AI.
My fridge has a door. It does not need a fucking chatbot.
Fucking clankers. 🙄

CW: CW: AI, job loss, economic precarity
A small reminder of my article about how AI is already destroying people's livelihoods right now.
This isn't some distant dystopian future where robots might perhaps take our jobs one day. For many of us, it's happening already.
I'm a translator. I have watched AI steadily nibble away at my work, my clients, and my income. And behind all the cheerful talk of innovation and progress, there are real human beings wondering how the hell they're supposed to pay their rent.
I am one of them.
My article is about that reality - the one always missing from the shiny AI brochures and the techbro drivel.

Soooo what are "public interest topics" and who defines those?
Also how do you put solid watermarks into any content? Sure there are things like what Google is doing, but those can be easily circumvented. -
This practical roundup of how to disable AI in Most If Not All Of The Things by @jessamyn is brilliant:

You don't have to blog like me.
You don't have to differentiate by post kind.
You don't have to put full contents in your feed.
You don't have to keep a library of "maybe-some-day"
drafts so long that you'll never reach the bottom. You don't have to have a comments form.
Or reactions. Or webmentions.
Or a guestbook. Or drawings?
(But give me some way to say "hi, you're cool!")You don't have to have a feature image.
You don't have to keep posts up forever.
You don't have to have tags.
You don't have to syndicate to the socials. You don't have to stick to one topic.
Or three. Or seventeen.
Or be able to answer "what's your blog about?"
It's yours, and that's enough.You don't have to post on a schedule.
You don't have to use your real name.
You don't have to have a podcast.
You don't have to tell everybody. You don't have to use any particular tool.
Bloggers who spend their time arguing
About ClassicPress vs WriteFreely vs Bear vs Middleman
Could be reading and writing instead. You don't have to have a plan to "monetize".
You don't have to write your own theme.
You don't have to be run your own server.
You don't have to make every post your best. You just have to blog.
The Internet is ours.
It belongs to the humans. Not to the companies and the robots.
To us.And every human voice.
Every single human voice.
Makes the world a little richer. You don't have to blog like me.
(You don't have to use "blog" as a verb.)You just have to blog.

While this is almost bound to be nonsense hype, it is far more certain that government’s response will be “more AI to fight the AI because AI! Make everyone have/use AI all the time!”… rather than, say, maintaining real-world resilience that enables continued function regardless of AI or other interference.
See also my past posts on keeping “legacy” systems that are more reliable in extremis such as normal telephones, analogue radio broadcasting, flood sirens…
