Late morning value sketches.
I started this practice in the latter part of last year to take a break from screens. I recently started to realize that I was increasingly rushing through them like, "Gotta get these in before the screens return!".
Slowing down... These two were done during sides A and B of this top 3 Bowie album (along with Hunky Dory and The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars).
Screens can wait.

They say some rain will come in and take away the snow I have grown fond of adding to these... even reaching a little out of my comfort zone. I usually steer away from trees.

I know I can't draw cars (they're a blind spot for me) but I'm fairly happy with this.

Morning value sketches. The markers I usually use for my four-value notans are running dry, so I picked up the three neglected middle value markers to see what cropped up. Seemed like November.
I did go back over in some spots with one of the markers to get some more darker tones, so they are not strictly four values.

A couple more four-value notans. Typically when I start to get more compartmentalized and detail oriented I know it is a sign to stop and start getting into trouble with watercolor again 😂

Always fun and challenging to return to 4 value notan studies (4th being white of paper). Also revealing what has to be chosen as a connecting shape even though they are different values, but not _that_ different with the limited choices.
