🔭 Could we detect technology on a distant exoplanet?
SETI Institute scientist Dr. Chenoa Tremblay led one of the most sensitive radio searches yet for technosignatures from K2-18b. While no artificial signals were found, the team's new techniques will help make future SETI searches even more powerful.

The Pentagon has been releasing and declassifying files on UFOs. Seth Shostak, senior astronomer at the SETI Institute, recently joined CBS News with analysis. "Unfortunately, it's probably not aliens; it's probably the humans." #notaliens

SETI Institute President and CEO Bill Diamond recently responded to questions about the governmental release of files on UAP/UFO information collected over decades: "Much ado about nothing." #notaliens

We've seen a UFO while out in the garden, and to prove it here's a classic UFO-quality photo that is definitive proof of alien visitation for certain people.
Seriously, though, it was weird. Two rotating dots moving slowly across the sky until they just stopped moving, holding position for a few minutes, kept rotating, gradually faded away as if heading upwards perfectly relative to our viewing position.

NASA’s Curiosity rover conducted its first successful wet-chemistry experiment on Mars, revealing a diverse array of ancient organic molecules in a 3.5-billion-year-old rock. Nathalie Cabrol, Director of the Carl Sagan Center for Research at the SETI Institute, examines what the results mean and why they are important (even though they are #NotAliens).

Comet 3I/ATLAS reached perihelion on October 30, 2025. Only the third known object to enter our Solar System from another star system, 3I/ATLAS became the focus of a special SETI Live episode featuring SETI Institute planetary astronomer Dr. Franck Marchis and SETI Institute cometary scientist Dr. Ariel Graykowski. The discussion unpacked what scientists had learned so far about this comet’s origin, structure, and composition.

‘A critical review of the evidence for the interstellar origin for the USG 20140108 fireball is presented. Examining USG fireball velocities where independent data are available shows the former to have significant (10-15 km/s) uncertainties at large speeds and highly variable radiant accuracy, with average errors in excess of ten degrees.’ #notaliens #astrodon https://arxiv.org/abs/2306.14267

So they found some things on the ocean floor. It’s not clear what they found. Could be terrestrial because they have not analyzed it. I am all for technosignature research, but the likelihood of recovering fragments in the ocean of whatever impacted is so low. That’s not being mentioned at all. #NotAliens https://nypost.com/2023/06/27/harvard-professor-avi-loebs-search-for-remains-of-interstellar-object-that-crashed-into-ocean-concludes-heres-what-was-found/
