The internet is still the same. It's just that the combination of smartphones and profit-driven social media platforms has conditioned users to such an extent that they are increasingly trapped in a virtual digital matrix. But that has nothing to do with the internet itself. People who don't use smartphones can still experience the internet as a time and place and otherwise leave it alone.

I'm a #treehugger, #bicycle commuter, #SoftwareDeveloper, #ApplicationSecurity enthusiast, and #Linux user.

I'm a bit of a #hippie — I go #barefoot much of the time, don't have a smartphone (#NoSmartphone?), and am mostly #vegetarian. And I have a deep respect and love of #nature and its systems, even the uncharismatic parts.

I think #FreeSpeech is super important, but that it comes with the responsibility to #BeKind to others in the process.
