People with JavaScript disabled on your browser, which do you find more annoying?
(Please boost for reach!)
-
one fun thing about having #noScript installed in your browser is that sometimes, half the web will break at once and you'll notice that all the big sites are using some new way to track you

Meine Plugins:
#uBlockOrigin
#NoScript
#PrivacyBadger

Hmm. This seems like a rather interesting set of domain names. They certainly seem auto-generated. I wonder if they're designed to work around adblock technologies downstream of javascript blocking by rotating domains quickly. But the domains are old! Or at least, the topmost .xyz one is. Current registration is from November 2025. Bigdomaindata.com query first picked it up in August of 2024. AND uBlockOrigin blocks me from loading the domain (it's on EasyList):
19706903.xyz
Which lists this GitHub issue:
https://github.com/uBlockOrigin/uAssets/issues/26681
Which references
ad-shield.cc
Which uBO also blocks, but viewing shows:
>Notice for cybersecurity professionals
What Is This Domain?
>
>This domain provides authorized services through official partnerships with publishers. html-load.com supports the delivery of ads and essential web assets, helping digital publishers enforce access control to ad-supported content in accordance with the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).So... yeah. It *is* an attempt to work around adblockers. It's just a shitty attempt.

@thatdnaguy Most likely they are using a javascript package that the ads typically use.
#noscript says it needs login.gov, google.com, and gstatic.com to be trusted to work. (Why I don't know.)
It also wants googletagmanager, but that doesn't need to be trusted, so it works without that one active.
-
@innocentzero Have you tried the @noscript extension?
-
@n0iroh Not sure how long this will work but if you have #javascript blocked, you can view the post by searching for it in @StartpageSearch and clicking "Visit in Anonymous View":
https://av.startpage.com/__av/aHR0cHM6Ly9rZXJrb3VyLmNvbS9pcm9oLXYxLXAycA
You'll need av.startpage.com allowlisted though.

I've started using #vivaldi for my #google replacement. Have to say I'm impressed with its ability to handle all the plugins (like #paperpile, which doesn't work in google docs on firefox. (I still prefer the #noscript extension on #firefox for most situations.) But what's really impressed me is StartPage, which is the default search that vivaldi is doing.
What is #StartPage and why have I never heard of it before?
StartPage seems to be giving me the old google search --- no AI, finding the actual papers that I was looking for. It's even better than #DuckDuckGo.

With that transition, Chrome-based browser users are less protected against malicious websites:
#Google #Chrome is killing all #uBlock Origin bypasses, Microsoft #Edge, #Opera to follow
https://www.neowin.net/news/google-chrome-is-killing-all-ublock-origin-bypasses-microsoft-edge-opera-to-follow/Switch to a #Firefox-based browser that still allows protective add-ons like #uBlockOrigin and #NoScript. I'm using #LibreWolf.
-
Does anyone know the position of the author of the NoScript browser extension on the use of AI in the project?
-
#uBlockOrigin, #NoScript, oder ganz was anderes? -
@[email protected]
Yep.

Quick tip: to avoid popups/ads and #trackers, consider 💻 #Firefox + #NoScript, on 📱 #Android try #Fennec.

@IAAA why don't you ask The Independent ? https://spacey.space/@spaceflight/116579697522762690
I didn't even notice it before posting as I'm using #NoScript, so only the text was visible -
@su_liam I recommend using a privacy-friendly browser, example https://f-droid.org/packages/org.mozilla.fennec_fdroid with #NoScript addon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NoScript#Active_content_blocking

In the web interface of #tchncs .de on #lmde7 with #firefox most of the pictures are greyed out and i have to "click to open" because "preview not available:.
In the #mastodon client on Android all pictures are shown.
Sometimes #noscript comes up with a media warning in the new tab if I click to open.
Is there a way/setting to fix the web interface ? -

Protocol Alert: NoScript has been promoted to a 'hacking tool' in my stack. It’s now using the `chrome.debugger` API—which triggers a native browser warning for a reason. Verified a massive spike in data egress (1GB+) while the 'debugging' notification was active. If your 'security' tool uses a God-View backdoor to phone home, it’s not a tool; it’s a wiretap. #InfraSec #NoScript #Privacy

Noscript updated with some kind of gesture based menu opening thing, that completely hijacks scrolling on mobile...
https://github.com/hackademix/noscript/issues/517
Now i have to decide whether this bothers me enough to temporarily disable noscript.....
-
What is this new gesture-feature on my Android/firefox/noscript, and how do I turn it off?
Edit: I did try to google first, but apparently I don't know what I'm looking at.
-
Time to re-enable and configure noscript on my browsers me thinks.
Glad I kept my old custom settings file from 2024 to ease into it.
