Once accessible only by tidal fords from North Uist and South Uist, Benbecula is now connected to its neighbouring islands by causeways. Field of dreams, North Uist.
My first time in North Uist was a very short stop of a few hours waiting for ferry connections to align. I wandered off and was completely captivated by this wild flower meadow with the gentle curving land, and for several years, this is how I saw North Uist in my mind. I later went back and spent more time there, and this image continues to resonate with me: the gentle shapes and colour palette. Even in storms it retains this beauty for me.

Just entered "The Heb" adventure race for a weekend of: exploring the #outerhebrides (specifically, #northuist #benbecula and #southuist), good company, and exhaustion. 200km of varying terrain over two days. It's next September if that sounds like something you might enjoy.
