80th Ave NE between Bothell Way and NE 185th in Kenmore - a bike route currently being improved with new construction for both sidewalks, improved bike lanes, and traffic calming - is going to be CLOSED to all but local traffic for a month starting August 24th.
I will drop a new maps release on Friday to reflect this, as it is a durable actual closure to all but local traffic only.
-----
When: August 24 - September 24
Where: 80th Avenue NE between NE 185th Street and SR522. Detour route: on NE 192nd to SR522 via 73rd Avenue NE.

North Shore Sunset
A warm North Shore sunset washes the sky in soft gold as gentle waves roll toward Haleiwa Alii Beach. The sun hovers low, casting shimmering reflections across the water and silhouetting the distant shoreline. The scene feels calm and unhurried, capturing the quiet beauty that settles over Oahu at day’s end.

Duluth - Canal Park On Ricoh GRIIIx
Were heading up north last weekend and stopped in Duluth to get out of the car and walk around the canal/harbor for a little bit. We got there just in time to see the largest ship on the Great Lakes pass under the lift bridge into the harbor. I didn't get any photos of the ship, unfortunately; I was parking the car and dropped my wife and kiddo off so they could cat…

The real Oahu, Hawaii, starts where the crowds end.

RE: https://mastodon.murkworks.net/@moira/116988951616592476
I meant this, by the way. I know the odds are low, but does anyone local want a 13-year-old 7-speed Schwinn Gateway?
It's not a good bike but it has a comfortableness to it. Terrible for hills, but not so bad on the flats. You'd want new tubes and tyres, these are ancient even if they do still hold air and have tread.
No warranty, obviously, get any new-to-you bike checked out before riding, etc etc etc. It's free and entirely at your own risk.

This is a continuation of the severe storm that impacted the southern half of the #NorthShore.
Strong #winds and large #hail are the greatest threats from it.
-
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING:
A #Severe #Thunderstorm #Warning is in effect for the far southern portion of the #NorthShore region of the #Northland.

-

well that was loud
anybody else hear an explosion in the north end just now?
pow

21
time for regular numbers, not spelling them out after twenty
22? faint but I think real.
23, 24....
...and then quiet. It's quiet.
_Too_ quiet.
-
yes, this, please continue
-
twenty was quite loud! maybe the second loudest all day. But smooth, lacking that "what just exploded or crashed into something else or crashed into something else _and_ exploded" that seventeen had.
-
nineteen also quite loud but nothing on seventeen
i've thrown an adjustment into my current solar battery experiment and am charging the backup batteries to 50% off mains power just in case
(and didn't just start now, started around 10 when this ramped up)
-
For a fraction of a second I literally thought something - something big - crashed into something else also big. Like an airplane. Or at least a really big truck. Or an airplane _into_ a really big truck. Which given Kenmore Air's all-seaplane airport is theoretically even possible.

still raining but slowly enough that my weather station can't tell, it says "rainy" which means "was raining recently, may again soon"
the next .25mm (if we get there) will kick it back to "rain" at 1.3mm/hour and update the total, there's a little spoon inside under a funnel that fills up and tips
fifteen goddamn
eta: no! it tipped but i guess it needs two tips within a certain time period. it just says "rainy" still, but has updated the total.

Seattle Times says it'll go through midday, which would help from a rain standpoint so if you're wrong please be lowballing, we need this rain
(don't need the lightning tho')
-
hello, ten. ltns
eleven, twelve
we're up to 2mm of rain and it's still falling - but barely
-
hopefully it goes a bit, we need it
-
eight was serious went on a while, sonorous and determined
(if anyone's wondering why people are counting, this is more thunder than we usually get in a year. thunder used to make the news, even now it's unusual, and on-and-on like this even more so)
nine also had a lot to say but with less stamina
it did bring at least some rain back tho' so thank you nine good work
-
-
it's dark enough that the lights are on out back
also
two more thunders since that one
gods are bowling
-
and another! dang this is a thunder Thunder THUNDER-fest!
-
okay that's _definitely_ thunder at the north end of the lake
