From about this time in 2023: before Jagger and I got on deck one evening we had our first bear sighting here in the yard that summer. Jagger barked like hell and the bear took the hint. Coming up on two years since Jagger’s been gone.

Out on deck this evening, all three of my Howard Miller clocks, including my grandfather clock, having chimed 8 o’clock “Chicago time” (as my grandma and grandpa J used to refer to it after they moved to Harbert, Michigan, from Chicago in 1968). It’s a nice evening here in this little corner of northern Wisconsin.
