Also at #Norham, the parish church is interesting*. I went in to see what these windows are like from the inside, and noticed the light through the glass was colouring the walls and floor. It didn't photograph very well.
(* It was built in the 12th century, replacing an earlier church. Although it's been substantially rebuilt over the centuries, there are some bits of the original building, including this wall. (I assume the glass has been replaced). There is also this odd pillar made from Anglo-Saxon stones stuck together.)

Norham Castle, a mighty stronghold located on a rocky bluff on the south bank of the River Tweed, which put it on the English side of the border with Scotland. Norham Castle, Northumberland. On the Scottish/English border. It has changed hands a few times.
It was built for a bishop, I believe. Yes. a Bishop of Durham in the early 12th century. It was apparently besieged 13 times. Also, it's very cool.
