A modern brass lur from Denmark, inspired by the bronze lurs of Northern Europe’s Late Bronze Age.
The historical instruments date from approximately the 12th to 5th centuries BC and were likely used in rituals, processions and religious ceremonies.
A natural trumpet without valves, shaped by breath, lips and the natural harmonic series.

Musical Interlude: Listened to a composer I was unfamiliar with today, and liked him a lot. Norwegian Christian Sinding is often viewed as the successor to Edvard Grieg, but I enjoy him more. His reputation in Norway suffered because he was supposed to be a member of the Nazi party, but it turns out he was suffering from dementia at the time (he died in 1941) and was being used and manipulated for the sake of PR. Before the onset of dementia he'd been an opponent of the Nazis and had fought for the rights of Jewish musicians. These days he's being rediscovered and his reputation rehabilitated.
"Symphony No.1," composed by Christian Sinding, performed by the NDR Radiophilharmonie Hannover.

🇸🇪 Melissa Horn "Konstgjord andning" – 2019
Quiet, intimate songs where soft vocals and fingerpicked guitar carry reflective storytelling. Subtle strings and restrained arrangements let the melodies breathe, inviting slow listening and a calm room...

I just discovered music influenced by Nordic folklore.
I does remember me of Witcher 3 and I really like that. Maybe I should try to discover more music going into that direction.

2/ 🧵I have a friend who loves #bluegrass and had never heard #Scandinavian folk music, so being a writer and amateur ethnomusicologist… I wrote a thing about the connection between the two. It’s a Google Doc full of info, images and links to some great tunes. #Music #FolkMusic #NordicMusic #essay https://docs.google.com/document/d/151G-Wg623iFVeSATyQZlJ0CyHxJpBN3wl0D1VQHsN5M/edit?usp=drivesdk

🇬🇱 Nanook “Ataasiusutut Misigissuseq” – 2019
Beautiful Greenlandic indie pop with heartfelt lyrics sung entirely in Greenlandic. A unique and emotional soundscape from one of Greenland’s most beloved bands — delicate, soaring, and deeply moving.

(13) Herding Cows with Kulning – YouTube
Using the ancient Nordic herding call “kulning” to herd the cows. Kulning is a high pitch voice technique that creates a sound that can travel through very far distances. It’s been used since the medieval age to call home the cows and the goats in the forest, and also to scare away predators like wolves and bears. #sweden #kulning #herdingcall #herding #nordicmusic

During my writing session I love listening to Nordic music.
It gives me that sense of peace and spirituality that I need when I have to communicate with my inner self. -
#bandcampfriday was fire as usual. What did you get?
I bought some #songleikr , gonna play a heck out of them in my upcoming #dnd campaign, so it was about time to get their album.Songleikr consists of the folk from Heilung, just without Kai Uwe Faust, who apparently brings that primal component.
If you like #adrianvonziegler , #heilung or just #nordicmusic / #celticmusic in general, give them a shot!

I'm hooked on the hauntingly beautiful soundtrack of Death Stranding - it's fast becoming one of my all-time favorite game soundtracks!

Ja, ich bin total voreingenommen, wenn ich sagen, dass Emma Härdelin die wohl beste Stimme im Bereich #nordicmusic hat.
So und nun zu den Schwertern ;)
