  1. #Maine - Referendum on #TransgenderAthletes could be kept off ballot because of invalid signatures

By Kevin Miller, May 21, 2026

"A state elections official is recommending that a referendum on transgender athletes be kept off the November ballot after identifying problems with thousands of petition signatures.

"The proposed ballot initiative would only allow athletes to compete on teams that match their birth sex unless a school offers a co-ed team. If enacted, it would also require schools to maintain separate locker rooms, restrooms and showers for male and female students.

"But opponents challenged the validity of thousands of petition signatures filed by the #ProtectGirlsSports in Maine campaign. And after reviewing the petition sheets, Chief Deputy Secretary of State Katherine McBrien recommended that more 12,500 of the nearly 80,000 signatures be invalidated because of multiple issues. Those included petition circulators failing to file valid affidavits with the secretary of state's office, duplicate signatures, someone else signing a petition sheet rather than the supposed voter, and signatories not matching any registered voters in their town's voting rolls.

"If Secretary of State #ShennaBellows agrees with McBrien's recommendation, the Protect Girls Sports campaign would fall just 532 signatures below the 67,682 that are currently needed to place an issue on the statewide ballot."

  2. For some reason every time I see one of those "NO PLACE FOR HATE" or "HATE HAS NO HOME HERE" signs, I can't help rolling my eyes. It's so damn smarmy and classically neoliberal.

What other response than hate makes sense when children are being murdered? When the whole human race is being ground into the dust? When human extinction is being furthered every day by people who think of us as nothing more than cattle?

If you're so fucking saintly that you're not going to hate the oligarchs and their servants who are killing us, you're too saintly to live - and you're of no use to the rest of us. You are a waste of space. The millions of ancestors who struggled to live and reproduce wasted their effort in producing you.

    Go away.

  3. So much awful rhetoric coming out of the US regime, today. I mean: and every day, but today it's especially reminiscent of Hitler's regime.

I generally don't boost US-internal awfulness, or boost just a few with the CW #usPol.

But I do selectively boost war crimes & breaches of basic human rights - of which people everywhere should (imo) be aware.

This toxicity will not be (already: is not being) limited within the borders of the US.

We must not close our eyes this time.

  10. #NeoNazi demonstration outside #NewHampshire State House turns violent

    by WGME Staff
    Tue, August 5th 2025

CONCORD, New Hampshire (WGME) -- "Police are looking into a fight that involved a group of masked neo-Nazis outside the New Hampshire State House in #ConcordNH over the weekend.

"The incident was captured on video during a demonstration that turned violent on Saturday.

"The woman who filmed it says she was enjoying drinks with her friends at a rooftop bar when she heard a lot of screaming.

" 'Directly under us, giant black flag with a white swastika on it and about 20 or so completely masked and wearing red,' Aislinn Kaloe said.

"She started recording as the scuffle broke out between the demonstrators and a bystander who wanted them to leave.

"She says the man involved suffered cuts to his face and was treated by first responders.

"In a statement, [Republican] New Hampshire Governor #KellyAyotte says there is no place for #HateGroups or their 'repugnant and disgusting ideology' in New Hampshire."

  20. FBI Arrests Members of #NeoNazi Cell Whose Plot to Murder #Antifa Couple Was Foiled By a Bad Back

"Three men in Georgia allegedly associated with the neo-Nazi terror group #TheBase have been arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

"#LukeAustinLane, #MichealHelterbrand, and #JacobKaderli were arrested on Wednesday over a plot to kill an 'Antifa couple' in Georgia. The arrests of the three young man bring the total of Base members arrested this week to six.

The affidavit shows Lane, known as #TMB (#TheMilitantBuddhist), as the leader of the group, who would organize meetups on his father’s property in #SilverCreekGeorgia."

  25. #NeoNazi group ‘actively seeking to grow in #US’ with planned #paramilitary training event

#TheBase is emerging from shadows and ramping up its ranks as White House turns blind eye to the far right

Ben Makuch, Sat 7 Jun 2025

"An international neo-Nazi terrorist organization is boldly continuing to build in the US and planning a new paramilitary training event without fear of local authorities or the FBI, which once dismantled it in a nationwide effort.

"The Base, founded in 2018 by a former Pentagon contractor living in #Russia and now suspected of Kremlin-sponsored espionage, once boasted close to 50 stateside members before the bureau made more than a dozen arrests in a years-long counter-terrorism operation.

"But since the presidential election campaign last year and what many then believed to be a surefire victory for Donald Trump, the Base saw an opportunity in a potential administration uninterested in policing #WhiteSupremacy and went about ramping up its ranks.

"Now, the Base has a presence in #Ukraine, performing #sabotage operations inside the country against the embattled government, and new and dangerous cells emerging across Europe, and it appears to be growing in the US, where the FBI under the #Maga acolyte #KashPatel has signalled it isn’t prioritizing investigations of #FarRightExtremism.

"In its early history, part of what first piqued the interest of authorities was the Base’s courting of military veterans who could help drill its foot soldiers in a series of training camps across the US. Eventually implicated in an assassination plot, mass shootings and other actions in Europe, the Base went so far as to have a fortified compound and cell in #Michigan, led by a US army dropout.

"Online evidence from its various accounts, several of which live on #RussianServers to avoid censorship on American sites, shows the Base has real plans for a national gathering this summer where members intend to train in paramilitary drills as in years past.

" 'The Base in [the] USA is preparing for an upcoming national training event,' reads one of its recent posts soliciting crypto donations. 'This one might be our most attended training event in [the] USA in a while. We could really use some financial support to help our members with travel expenses.'

"The post continued: 'When you donate money to the Base, you’re investing in a #WhiteDefenseForce that’s aiming to protect white people from political persecution and physical destruction.'

"The Base then published a new photo of armed members claiming to be in the #midwest, which follows a trend in 2025 of the group bragging about its unafraid American presence. As a sort of taunt to its enemies, on the day of Trump’s inauguration the Base released a photo of four members somewhere in Appalachia, in what was the largest number of American members in one photo in over a year.

" 'The upcoming national training event indicates that the group is seeking to grow and is willing to take the risk of advertising it publicly in advance,' said Joshua Fisher-Birch, an analyst of #FarRightTerrorism who has been following the Base’s movements for close to a decade. 'The Base appears to be actively seeking to grow in the US.'

"Fisher-Birch notes that even if the gathering involves 'fewer than 20 people', it is by no means 'low profile' and suggests the group sees momentum is on its side.

" 'An event entails planning, coordination, travel and face-to-face meetings between different regional groups, indicating that they operate in an environment where they view the potential amount of risk as acceptable,' he said. 'The group has previously stated multiple times that being a member or training with them is a risky endeavor; however, planning a meetup, which they will inevitably use for propaganda purposes, is a different approach than even a year ago, when the group advertised regional activities.'

"In response to queries about the Base’s latest movements, the FBI told the Guardian that it only investigates people who have or are planning to commit a federal crime and pose 'a threat to national security'." [Of course Patel's FBI won't take action against #VeryFinePeople!]

How Concerned Citizens Drove a #NeoNazi Out of Rural Maine

#ChristopherPohlhaus wanted to build a #fascist training compound in America’s whitest state. His neighbors had other plans.

by Mira Ptacin | The Atavist Magazine | October 31, 2024

"The first step in establishing a neo-Nazi compound is to clear and level the land. These sites tend to pop up in rural America, which means that there’s brush to hack down, tree stumps to pull up, and piles of debris to burn. All this work is done to make room for the barracks, kitchens, and meeting halls where modern-day devotees of Adolf Hitler will live, work, and train together.

"When Christopher Pohlhaus moved to the forested lot where, like other neo-Nazis on other forested lots before him, he planned to start a fascist revolution, he brought two RVs with him. That meant he had somewhere to bunk down at night. But he didn’t have running water. I can’t say how he bathed when he first arrived; as for other matters of hygiene, perhaps he used the woods.

"Pohlhaus’s parcel of 10.6 acres does not have an address. Technically, it’s in #SpringfieldMaine, a hamlet of fewer than 300 people. The closest city, about an hour’s drive away, is #BangorMaine. That’s where Pohlhaus, a gym rat, eventually joined Planet Fitness. To get home after a session of lifting, showering, and doing whatever else he needed to do, Pohlhaus would take Route 2 north, then turn eastward on Route 6. He would drive to Bottle Lake Road, take a right, and drive about two miles before taking another right on a gravel lane called Moores Road. Eventually, among scattered hunting camps, Trump banners, and 'Support the Blue' signs, he would come to a metal gate situated on a dirt road. Behind the gate sat the land of Pohlhaus’s dreams.

"Pohlhaus, 37, is a former U.S. marine, an itinerant tattoo artist, and a hardcore white-supremacist influencer. He is loud and hostile, and proud to be both. His voice is pitched surprisingly high, and he has a slight Southern drawl. He has a large body and small bald head; a blue-black tattoo crawls up the right side of his face, from his chin to his forehead. Over the years, Pohlhaus has collected thousands of social media followers, who know him by his nickname: #Hammer.

"Hammer had been living in Texas for a few years when, in March 2022, he bought the land in Maine. He told his followers that he was going to use it to build a haven, operational center, and training ground for white supremacists. He invited them to join him. Together, he said, they would plant the seed of a #WhiteEthnostate, and they would engage in violence, if necessary, to nurture it. 'An unarmed man sacrifices his family to the unpredictably [sic] of chaos,' Hammer wrote online in 2021.

"Hammer packed his bags and headed north, meeting with various white supremacists along the way. He solicited donations for his new compound in the form of cryptocurrency, and later set up a page on GiveSendGo, a Christian crowdfunding site. He raised close to $10,000 before the campaign was shut down earlier this year.

"Once he’d settled in Maine, Hammer kept his followers abreast of his progress breaking ground, frequently posting photos and uploading videos to Telegram. There was Hammer standing next to a pile of freshly chopped wood, snowshoeing through the forest, holding a beer in front of a bonfire. Followers saw him cradling an AK-47 in his arms. (Caption: 'All this Slavic war training in the Maine woods has me exhausted!') Hammer posted footage from a celebration he held with about eight of his followers, where he claimed they sacrificed a goat. Another clip showed Hammer helping a man in a balaclava slice the palm of his hand as part of an initiation ritual.

"Hammer appeared excited, optimistic. He was careful—or thought that he was careful—not to reveal his exact location, lest it attract unwanted attention from his enemies, including the media and the FBI. If people wanted to join him at the compound, they could get in touch directly.

"But unbeknownst to Hammer, he was being followed. A longtime #Mainer was determined to wipe the smirk off the neo-Nazi’s face. Indeed, he hoped to run Hammer out of the state for good."

  36. Meanwhile, in #Maine...

  37. The #ProudBoys Are Plotting a Comeback. And They Want Revenge

Fresh out of federal prison, former Proud Boys leader #EnriqueTarrio suggests he’s still in charge as the #FarRight organization looks to regroup.

    by Tess Owen

Excerpt: "'The Proud Boys are not terrorist masterminds. These are not the brightest #neofascists out there,' said Jon Lewis, a research fellow at George Washington University’s Program on Extremism. 'But they are committed to the cause. They are single-minded in this mission now: for revenge, for retribution. And as we’ve seen before, they are willing to go across state lines and use violence in furtherance of their goals.'

"An analysis of Proud Boys’ social media channels by the Global Project Against Hate and Extremism identified a surge in online activity following the January 6 pardons, including discussions of ramping up real-world activism to help further the Trump administration's agenda. 'Posts from Proud Boys groups reveal an emboldened network, with members fantasizing about mass deportation schemes and threatening to escalate their attacks during #PrideMonth,' the GPAHE said in a statement. 'These developments point to a broader alignment between extremist groups and the Trump regime, raising urgent concerns about public safety and the normalization of far-right violence.' A North Carolina chapter, via its Telegram channel, proposed carrying out 'bount[ies on illegals.' A chapter in upstate New York gleefully circulated a rumor that Immigration and Customs Enforcement was offering $750 rewards to turn in undocumented #immigrants.

"In the years since the Capitol riot, as dozens of Proud Boy members and leaders copped charges for the insurrection, the group became increasingly elusive and unpredictable. They pivoted away from large-scale public demonstrations—which would often involve 100 or so Proud Boys descending on a city, clad in yellow and black, reeking of beer, looking for media attention and fights—and instead embedded themselves into hyperlocal culture wars across the country, in many cases aligning themselves with #ChristianNationalists. They started showing up to small protests against vaccines, crashed school board meetings, and intimidated attendees at #drag brunches. For the most part, they stayed away from cities or towns where they were likely to encounter opposition.

"Though they mobilized in a few instances in support of Trump ahead of the 2024 election, it was, overall, fairly lackluster, especially compared to 2020. This drove speculation that the gang was on its last legs.

"Then, on Monday, as Trump was taking the oath of office, more than 100 uniformed Proud Boys marched through the streets of Washington, DC, led by their south-Florida chapter.

"It was a striking scene—one that seemed intended to send a clear message: 'We’re back.'"
